Probably the coolest trophy ever, for a car show. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves :D http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0236.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0238.jpg Matt |
The more i see of this car the more i like it, Great job to everyone involved!

Paint and stance =

Great looking Ride.
what is the front suspension of this car again? -Dan |
It's a DSE front hydroformed frame.
Dude, where is the engine shot? I want to see the CF inner fenders!! Tyler |
X2!!!

Tyler, you got me there. I don't actually have any nice shots of the inner fenders in all of their carbon fiber glory. There was a really nice, tight shot of the engine, from a somewhat low perspective, showing off the inner fenders. It was a couple pages back, and taken by someone at cars and coffee. I think it fell victim to bandwidth constraints though, because it isn't showing up. I'll take some pics this week. Oh and the CF inner fenders have been a big hit at the two gatherings we've been to so far. Actually people ask about everything from Anvil.
Oh and we finally got to meet our fair share of "car guys," I heard people say it was everything from a 67 Camaro to a "Hotchis type of build" and someone even explained that we had some kind of ramjet motor. Ah car shows. I figure I might be able to last through one show season. Maybe... Matt |

Matt[/QUOTE] Car guys--LOL---that's awesome--hard to believe that a car of this caliber still gets the lame duck comments---I think we should call those guys "Car show guys"---I've never heard any lame comments at the track before---maybe we can isolate this type of behavior to just the shows-- Doug |
You should try taking my truck to car shows and have to sit by it all day.
The 3 best comments, Honestly. 1. Does that thing have a Butt massager? No that is the air ride control panel. 2. Is That one of them there Haliburton rear ends? No Sir, I think you mean Halibrand rear end. No Son I said Haliburton. Oh Sorry, you right you did. 3. Why does it have 2 brake pedals? 2 brake pedals what do you mean? Look right there, see those 2 brake pedals....... OH, Sir that is a clutch pedal. Car show season is almost upon us......I'm excited.....:D |
Do the CF inner fenders allow for extra clearance given your car's stance? TIA - Ron

Ron, as our car is set up now, the CF inners had to be modified to get the desired stance. We had rolled the fender lip up beforehand, so the two parts needed some modification to fit together. I don't think it would be possible to get this ride height, without rubbing on the outside, without modification. But as Tyler said, it can fit a 10 wide wheel. The wheel specs would have to be different or the height might have to come up 1/2" for a car without modification. I'd really like to see someone build a wheel around an aftermarket subframe and the CF inner fenders.

Guys, thanks for the replies. Decisions....decisions! Ron

'' I'd really like to see someone build a wheel around an aftermarket subframe and the CF inner fenders''
Thats exactly what I'm doing right now Matt. I'm waiting for my Anvil tubs as we speak. I'll be using a DSE sub so will see how this works out. I'm going to be running 19's all the way around ..:lateral: |
Best of show
The car came out beautiful, I don't know why but i always liked the RS cars with the headlight doors open.
|
Matt, the photos at cars and coffee look great. As stated before, killer color.
Is there anything left that you need to address on the car or are you just concentrating on "driver mode" |
We're easing into driver mode. I think the plan is to start dyno tuning at around 1000ish miles. In the mean time, the baseline tune works okay. Chris fixed the headlight doors so they open and close now, and are operated by one of the switches since he found a way to run them independent of the lights. I've got some pictures, just haven't uploaded them. It doesn't look so awkward anymore, although I was starting to get used to it.
We still have several things left, first the inner fenders need to get fiberglassed where they were cut, and then the power rear windows need to be installed since the regulators we ordered were built improperly. After that the car will go in to the trim shop to finish the trunk. Dick and I wanted to have this done for Goodguys Del Mar in April. Eventually I'd like to modify the center console for a hand brake along with some billet pieces I've been thinking of having Brad make. Oh and I'm trying to figure out where to put cup holders since we plan on some roadtripping. I'm just waiting on the center console I was supposed to get with the Marquez interior, since I'm not cutting up the finished one. I figure it might make a nice project when it gets to me next summer :_paranoid |
Ok, so the guys at the shop said the car got a little under construction write up in Popular Hot Rodding, is this true? If anyone knows, could you tell me what issue, and maybe even put up a scan...that would be really cool!
Also because everyone likes pictures, here is one of the finished front, it is amazing how different it looks with the doors closed. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0246.jpg Matt |
Car looks Killer Matt, I always liked the way the RS doors look closed. I always leave mine closed, even with my HID's on
|
I love it. great job and congrats.
Is it going to be at GNRS? |
Matt it looked great when I was there.

As many of you know, projects like ours are never done. In my case, I've been looking into adding a pair cup holders since we plan on a fair amount of long drives. Besides, what kind of grand tourer these days doesn't have cup holders?
There Aren't a ton of options for them in our car. The door panels are already done, so we can't put any in the doors, which might have looked weird anyway. The center console doesn't allow a ton of space either, and these: http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1838139 might get in the way of the driver's arm. Today, I think I may have stumbled on the perfect solution. The setup I just discovered does not require modification, and is removable so it won't get in the way for track events. It can also be placed in a number of spots thanks to the nature of the product. Here is a picture of the cup holder set up I just found: http://thereifixedit.files.wordpress...pg?w=500&h=667 Cool isn't it? I was thinking if I could use some of that aluminum duct-tape it would match the console insert, as well as the a/c bezels, and look right at home. Let me know what you guys think. If enough people like it I might be able to get a group buy together. Matt |
  I was joking around about those old cup holder that hang from the door panel the other day for my car. I guess it's not pro touring without at least one cup holder.
|
Matt! Great find!
If I ordered 2 pair... because I have the back seat in the Nomad so would like to have a set for the passengers too... would there be free shipping? I'm sure these would work fine attached to the back of the front seat! |

I called a guy I know at Waste Management and showed him your product. He thinks he might be able to do a contract fulfillment agreement with "drop" shipping for you. That would cut your landed cost!
|
I'll wait until someone does one of these in billet and I'll be all over it!

Additionally, I came across some new swaybar technology. I'm thinking of replacing my splined swaybar with a new, "locking" one. http://thereifixedit.files.wordpress...pg?w=500&h=375 |

Now that, I can use!
