Very cool pics.
That car is awesome. LOVE IT! Even the underside looks "clean". Glad there were no leaks.

I want to.. is it before or after the Motorstate Challenge? After as I recall.

bigtyme1 05-02-2010 05:24 PM

Steve, can you feel a differance with them heat shields on the exhaust? My floor gets hot just at an idle.

I don't know.. I just put them on.. they should make a difference and the company makes them in many sizes (lengths) and even for mufflers.

Bow Tie 67 05-03-2010 06:10 AM

What engine adapter are you using for the oil cooler system? -10 lines?

The Canton pan HAS to run a remote oil filter.. it's a block on the side of the pan and I'm running all XRP fittings. The oil filter mount is also Canton and all the lines are 10AN.

I put a mechanical gauge on both the inn and out of the oil system on the core support. At cold idle there's a 2psi drop in oil pressure. So if it's entering the oil system at 50psi it's coming out at 48psi. This differential drops when the oil gets warm. I imagine there is some restriction in the thermostat (also Canton).

Hey Steve! Awesome work! Penny my inspiration :hail:

Is that spray-on bedliner on your floor pans?

Do you need to primer the area before spraying this Wurth stoneguard?

Nope.. just scuff and shoot.. Of course you want a good surface.

Back in Action!!

Well, she's pretty much back on the road. Trailered her to Westech today for some dyno tuning TLC. We still have a few sheetmetal parts to put on, but so far, so good.

Still working on the tune. There might be a loose wire going ot the cam sensor up front as sometimes it turns over but wont fire. We going to continue to mess with it tommorow morning.

New engine bay with modified inner fenders.. should give me room to run a 285 front tire if I want.

http://i40.tinypic.com/k1p3xx.jpg

So far this is our best dyno pull.. 532 hp and 519 tq

Not too shabby.. We figure that it's a bit more choked compared to the engine dyno since I'm running a ported 90mm TB rather than the 102mm unit on the dyno.. plus exhaust, accesories and warmer water temps. This is a 91 octane turn.

This run is being overlayed on my old 402 LS2 chassis dyno pull. I think it's safe to say I now have more power.. everywhere.

http://i43.tinypic.com/2echnq0.jpg

Sounds great at idle.. sorta angry. The new radiator is proving to be very efficient so far.

lil427z 05-06-2010 07:05 PM

should pull hard.

It's not quite done yet.. but you get the idea.. need to rework the DSE closeout panel to work with the new core support.. the inner fenders came out great.

Vegas69 05-06-2010 09:03 PM

Nice numbers there Rupp.

Yea, not too shabby for a small-block.. ;)

BTW.. you were pretty close on your guess.. I underestimated how much the smaller TB and exhaust would cost in the car.. still, plenty of power and to be honest more would just prove challenging to hook.

The 460 might hit 550 rwhp.. maybe..

I said it before, Penny's beautiful. Why not just put the Autorad closeout panel on and call it a day? It'll open things up for viewing...

Vegas69 05-06-2010 09:10 PM

It's more than you need, that's for sure. :unibrow: I wanted to say I told you so, but I figured it was a bad idea seeing you are shooting my car soon.

I like how the DSE panel extends into the engine bay... cleans things up.

Might fab those parts and integrate into the Autorad deal.. I will decide after Coast Mesa.

Nah, he just tells everyone he's shooting they're cars soon so that we all have to be nice to him. He was supposed to shoot mine Wednesday, but that didn't happen so now I still have to pay him a compliment about his engine numbers,

Hey Steve, nice numbers! It should be more than enough to keep you busy over the summer.

So Costa Mesa is still a go, right?

Matt

GregWeld 05-06-2010 10:05 PM

Gawd -- I'm so glad I don't have a Camaro -- He doesn't want pix of my old station wagon.... So here goes.... HEY, RUPP -- your motor sounds like a itty bitty Honda with a coffee can muffler....

Great looking engine bay and the new numbers are killer.... nice job! :woot:

itsals1 05-07-2010 04:52 AM

Its amazing to me how great this car was and yet, it always comes out a step ahead no matter what you do! Maybe you'll get bored with it in a couple of years and sell it to me   .

See, once I shoot your car then the free beer and lunches will end.. lol

Would have shot yours if my car was done way back when we were hoping (ie, el toro event) but now it'll be a scramble for Costa Mesa. We will be shooting your purple people eater soon :)

I thought it sounded more like a Toyota.. ;)

The ONLY thing I don't like about Camaro Performers is that I can only shoot Camaros.. wagons rock!

tones2SS 05-07-2010 08:22 AM

Very nice Steve.
Man, your car looks so good and can whip it up as well. AWESOME!!!

Rybar 05-07-2010 12:10 PM

Steve the new motor & engine bay are killer, nice numbers.

Any plans to go back to the 102mm TB?

syborg tt 05-07-2010 12:47 PM

Car looks great and your photography skils are just getting better and better

Okay so are you going to be coming to Columbus this year with the car I would love to see it or do I have to wait till Sema.

Teetoe_Jones 05-07-2010 02:06 PM

What a pile. One of your AN fittings doesn't match. Total garbage.

Yes, why am I forced to put up with these f'ing red and blue AN fittings? It's 2010 people.. 1990 called and wants their circus colored fittings back!!!!

No.. although I did talk with Kenne Bell today about the possibility of making a 105mm TBW unit.. would be pricey and what the hell would I do with the extra power besides more easily kill myself? lol

I posted a better engine shot..

I've found that photograph quality is directly proportional to how much effort you're willing to expend. :)

Maybe Columbus.. sort of depends when it goes East.. for sure will be at the Holley LSX Fest in early Sept and most likely the next RTTH event.

Well, in an effort to make you "less right" we did some more tuning.. this is the best we could don on the 91 swill that passes for high-octane here:

534 hp and 528 tq.. that's only 16/2 short of MY guess... ;)

Ernie at Westech took it for a test blast.. all he could say was "Fuuuuc%$%#" lol

http://i40.tinypic.com/2vlu29t.jpg

Steve1968LS2 05-07-2010 05:24 PM

And lastly.. a little dyno walk around vid..

It's way louder in person..

WicKeD_SS 05-07-2010 05:36 PM
