I bought the car in 2003 and finished building it in 2006. I rushed it and just settled for certain parts. Nice parts, but the cheaper versions, such as Baer Brakes 11" kit when I knew all along I wanted the big, 6-piston kit. Or I had leather Corbeau's which were very nice seats, but I knew I wanted Recaro's. I just didn't want to spend the extra money and was never really happy with the car. Stuff like that is what led me to a 2nd build and to build the car right this time. As the saying goes, I wished I had built it right the first time. Most definately would have been cheaper. But, I was new to the game of building cars and unknowledgeable about alot of things. Still not a pro, but I've learned alot since then. This 2nd rebuild started in 2010 and should have been finished as I put it in the shop for a simple LS & T56 Magnum upgrade. Now, look what has happened..... :pushbutto

Good to see the progress Marcus.

Sorry guys, I'm not trying to give you single, small updates here and there, but I'm jumping thru the roof with this one. I finally got my Recaro buckets seats today. :ups: I got them from J.J. Custom Interior. With that being said, the quality is great. I had to wait a little longer than expected, but I'm really satisfied with the quality and craftsmanship. They are 100% leather. I chose the diamond pattern on the inserts to kind of keep an old school vibe going on with the interior. I plan to incorporate the diamond pattern into the center of the Fesler door panels as well. I'd also, like to take this time to give a very big thank you to Raj (canrc). Raj played a mediator in me getting my seats....long story. He took time out of his day on several occassions to check on my seats and made sure I got them. Again Raj, I cannot thank you enough.

Nothing good these days comes quickly it seems. :)

That diamond pattern looks cool on there. I like where you're going with that.

And it's always nice to see a fellow LG'er help someone else out in a different area with something.

canrc 06-13-2013 05:43 PM

Those look awesome Marcus, absolutely beautiful! Glad I could help, I know how frustrating it can be! Glad it all worked out in the end.

Thanks guys!! Yeah Ron, there's no way I could have done it without Raj. There were times I couldn't get a return phone call and Raj made sure that call got returned.

Thanks guys!! Glad you like them. I wasn't too sure about the diamond pattern at first and decided to step out on a limb. I know I'm not the first to do it, but I was sort of hesitant.

tones2SS 06-14-2013 05:26 PM

Awesome looking Recaros Marcus. I like the diamond pattern. Not the everyday Recaro!

As far as the two other things to do, they are build a small mount and find somewhere to place the Finch dual vent tank and order about six of those "pancake bump stops" from Energy Suspension to fit between the bracing made on the underside of the top of the notch.

Here are a few side shots of the underside of the top piece of the notch. You can see the bracing added for extra strength in addition to the bead rolling. To protect the frame once powder coated, I will put one of those little (as I like to call them) "pancake-like" bump stops on both ends of each rail right above the IRS frame rails to support added weight just in case I put my custom stereo box there....hint, hint.:secret:

Naw Scott, I never plan on selling it. The funeral home is gonna have to dig a 15x12 plot and bury me in this car....seriously. :lostmarbles: LOL!! Uhhh, well, the engine has been pushed back a little bit due to that dang vacation. LOL! Not to mention the Gucci purse I had to buy my wife while on vacation. :bang:

Marcus

Some time you find yourself looking at the fab work and wondering how you can leave it out in the open to see, don't you.

That vent is small you can hide it pretty easy.

stop buying those purses so you can get this car on the road.

HEEP 07-16-2013 04:10 AM

Hey Marcus,
Just now catching up. Been a busy couple of weeks. I understand about the wife and keeping her happy. It pays off in the end. :D

Now, for the Chevelle. All I can say is awesome. The metal work looks great.

ccracin 07-16-2013 05:10 AM

That looks fantastic Marcus! I agree, stop with the purses and get this thing done! Although, the purse probably helped ensure the possibility of completion! :lmao:

Thanks for the love guys. Next, I'm gonna redo the firewall. I had it shaved, but it was just shaved with no dimension to it. I'm gonna have it cut out and redo it with some sort of sick bead rolled design to it in order to give it a more appealing look. But, I'm gonna have to recoup after this trip and the purchase of the purse. LOL!! Y'all know I'm not stupid. :mock: I had better bought that purse or else and I'll buy another one today if I know what's good for me. :knokwood:

Tmadden, as far as the tank goes, when Brian Finch introduced these, he was offering free shipping...so, I bought one.

Exactly man. You would have had to buy it whether it was there or here, or sooner or later. lol
Enjoy your time off Marcus. (Not "too much" time off!)
