Nice, with so many over the top builds out there, One forgets how truly stunning a clean big block '69 with a nice color combo can be. Well done sir.

Thanks Fathom, Scott and Lenie. With so many nice builds on Lat-G its alot easier to get que's from. Perfect example is Lenie's and Scott's builds, fabrication.

Great job on this car. As others have said, it's the right amount of flash with the right amount of understatement. Love that color as well.

Michael

Thanks Michael and welcome to Lateral-G.

Some Day! Looking good Jay.

rocketrod 02-16-2013 06:17 AM

The car looks amazing! Thanks for the recommendation on the Screaming Performance kick panels, I ordered a set yesterday.

glassman 02-16-2013 07:55 PM

Absolutely gorgeous!!

Jay Hilliard 02-18-2013 04:31 AM

Thanks Wayne, Rod and Glassman. The kick panels are a nice solution if you have a need for speakers, want to use a 6.5" speaker with separate component.

Thanks Jack! Much appreciated, especially coming from seeing Darkside and the excellent craftmanship and detail of that car.

Some pics from interior shop

cell phone pics not turning out so well, but you get the idea. On the door panels I wanted a stock feel with a modern touch. I think it hit the mark.

Off the chart man. Simple, clean, classic and modern all in one.

Jay Hilliard 04-06-2013 05:37 AM

Thanks Sieig, Wayne, Jeff, Tone and Curtis for the compliments. I think its definitely what my wife and I were looking for. A modern touch, not to over the top but not completely stock either.

Here a few more pics with carpet, Clayton Machine door handle/crank and Screamin Performance kick panels installed.

thanks Lou. It's the Daytona carpet that came in original 50's GM cars. Most interior guys use this style as it has a tighter weave and IMO looks alot better than the loop style that came in late 60's GM cars.

waynieZ 04-06-2013 12:11 PM

Jay did you redo the dash cover, or did you have it done it looks awesome.

Jay Hilliard 04-06-2013 02:30 PM

Wayne,

The interior guy took an original and just used the plastic structure and re-built it with foam etc, then covered it. It looks awesome in person, as pics doesnt do it justice. It doesnt have the waves, like the originals and especially like the repo's.

waynieZ 04-06-2013 10:12 PM

I can't imagine how nice it looks in person because it looks awesome in the picture. Tell him he did an amazing job.

At first I thought it was a Nova pad. Coming together nicely.

Thanks Scott. I think that Tracy Weaver guy will work fine. I think he has done interiors in a few cars here and there. :poke: Poor Tracy...gets his chops busted all the time, all joking aside...a good guy and everybody knows Tracy does excellent work.

Thanks Jay. Still have exhaust to do when I get it back. Light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel. What new project are you working on now?

Sonar Chief 04-07-2013 05:32 PM

Very Nice!

Jay .... just went through the entire thread again .... the car is amazing:thumbsup:

Question ... you have an automatic right? What sifter is that shown in the interior shots? I like that clean transmission hump with a booted shifter, I might go that route and get rid of the column shifter.

Nice build fer sure :trophy-1302:

Thanks! The shifter is a Lokar shifter that works in a stock 4 speed hole. It's a nice piece and works well. The shifter ring is Lokar also with gear indicator lights.

Lenie 04-29-2013 09:44 PM

Hi Jay, car looks great. Earlier you said the carpet was a daytona weave, did you just order that by the yard and have the upholsterer sew and install it? Where did you purchase your carpet from.
Thanks
