Thanks. I will.
Rendering should be done soon of the car (better late than never on my part). I'm taking a few days off so I'll see what I can get done on the car in those days. I have about 95% of what I need to finish the car it's just about making time to do it. |

I opted for the double adjustable setup for some additional cost. Project name has been decided as "Might As Well" since that seems to be what I say most when buying parts for it... William |
That is SWEET! Congratulation's it looks like a nice system.
|
It killed my IG and Facebook today with all the notifications etc. Spread like wildfire.
Firewall has been started as well! Passenger side is on and being welded. Needs finishing and drivers side cleanup but that's next. http://i.imgur.com/BQATwfE.png |

Thanks! Long way to go still but it's looking good and hoping to start getting to some more fab work for the powertrain/FI setup.

Awesome William.
Good call on the smoothed firewall. |
Fair to say i'm pretty excited about this still! Talking with them and hope to have this system shipped to me first part of the year.

We have the engine in place and will be finishing up firewall checks and starting turbo fabrication.
http://i.imgur.com/cPAebiL.jpg Also got an update from JRi on the shocks. Looking GOOD! http://i.imgur.com/cqstLsp.jpg |
Also Kris Horton finished up the rendering of the car recently as well.

Very awesome.
Glad to see the updates. Car should be beast! |
Will, I'd like to meet you and check out your car. I recently got my 70 Chevelle back from the Roadster Shop. I need to get to know the Houston pro touring crowd...
|
Sounds good!
We need to have a meet/greet. There are a ton of members in the area. Be cool to have them all together. We can talk about projects in the works or finished! |
Yep. Used to be coffee and cars, but I think it is dead. What's the timeframe on your car? I looked back over your entire thread and saw that you started in 2010. I know you're busting at the seams. If you ever need any help turning a wrench, let me know. My 16 year old will gladly polish the lugnuts...

I'll let you know when wrenching opportunities come up! Now post a thread with build pics of your RS Chevelle! |

I haven't signed up for it yet but a group of friends has already picked hotels. We'll be doing the long haul.
|
Will, my car is on here. It's a Roadster Shop project update: "Robert's Chevelle". I need to check out the Power Tour myself. That was one of the reasons I did the car; to drive.
|
That's awesome. Jess showed me the thread. I remembered it but didn't see the final product. That is a gorgeous car!
Glad you built it to drive. That's what is important is getting the car out and enjoying it! |

Slightly off topic, but I'd like to meet you guys as well. We have a group of guys that normally gathered at Starbucks off of I-10/Echo Lane on Sundays, around 4:00 pm. Mostly Firebirds, but some will show up with Vettes/Olds/Alpha Romeos. |
Man Echo/I10 is just down the road from my house (just near city center). Also near GAP Racing. You gonna be there this weekend?
William |
Quote:
Most likely I won't be there this weekend. Have the car on jackstand swapping out spindles, and with the auto show this weekend, most of the guys won't be there either. I plan to be there in 2 weeks, as I'll be in San Antonio next weekend. I've been to GAP before. Tim is 10 min from where I work. When I stopped by, your Camaro was in body shop. |
Ok. We'll meet up another time.
|
Some new parts arrived!
http://i.imgur.com/PFWsXPl.jpg Some new parts put on order as well. Master cylinders and billet reservoirs for the new pedal assembly. Picked up the carbon spoiler off this site as well :) William |
Sweet. What's the timeframe looking like? Are you going to make Power Tour? I'm registered, just need to make hotel reservations. My car is going back to Roadster Shop this spring for final touch ups. My son and I are going to fly up and do the whole tour back. Should be a blast. Hopefully we will meet you somewhere in Alabama, Mississippi or Louisiana.
|
Goal is to do the whole thing.
Got the transmission in today and measured driveshaft. It's inly temporary to fab turbo stuff. Also got the fuel tank installed with dual pump setup. I'll be going up friday to see what I can get accomplished before I go offshore. Need turbo headers now to make big progress. I'll see if I can mount the brakes and maybe the shocks though. |
Car got on the lift at GAP so we could do a little more work to it:
http://i.imgur.com/eJSP8f1.jpg First up was installing the RSG Tranzilla. Was simple to do with the quicktime bellhousing and the hooker crossmember. Looks like some MINOR modifications needed to the crossmember to allow the mount to sit down fully. After putting it in the air and taking a look at it, I can tell i'm going to cut the bottom of the bellhousing flange so it's not hanging so low. Dont want to risk snagging that on the road when driving. That would be devastating! http://i.imgur.com/mjmGyh5.jpg After that I got the tank installed in the car. Still need to snug the straps up a little bit it looks good :) Got both CTS-V pumps modified and in the tank pointing the way I want. Looking forward to taking full advantage of this system! http://i.imgur.com/wPlmusi.jpg William |
Will,
I'd like to stop by GAP later today (2-3 pm time frame) if you'll be around. Let me know please. |
Still trying to see if Tim will be there. I plan to get there if he is around 2-3 myself but gonna call him before I head there. He has plans this morning so wont be there.
William |
what is your full opinion on that crossmember? I'm thinking about buying one. Can you post some more pic? how close it is to the floor etc
|
Will get some pics hopefully tomorrow. Aside from needing to SLIGHTLY modify it to let my mount sit down enough to bolt it I think it's a nice piece.
Will mess with it some more to see if I can avoid modifying it. Either way. Worst case will be slot the mounting holes. It fits excellent otherwise. |
so plenty of room for the exhaust? Whats the part number?
|
William,
I was looking at that crossmember I think it is Hooker PN 12626HKR but I can't tell for sure how it mounts to the frame rail. Do you have some shots of where it mounts to the subframe on each side? It looks like it mounts on top of the frame rail on one side and the bottom of the frame rail on the other side. As for trimming the bottom of the bell housing flange. Hold off. I have the same BH and frankly it has not been a problem on Dust Off. I would recommend driving the car a while before cutting it. Once it is cut the BH is no longer SFI certified. Just saying. |
It mounts on the top on both sides in the factory location. I am using the same mount.
|
Cwylie is correct. Mounts on top of the frame. Part number I am unsure but it's the only one I know of made by holley/hooker.
As for the bellhousing, we'll see. I am aware the sfi certification would be void but I consider that a much lower penalty than what will happen if it snags a bump. http://i.imgur.com/vixVjvC.png http://i.imgur.com/ErWrCRe.png They need some slight modification but not TOO bad. |
Car is looking great Will. It was good meeting you the other day.
Tu |
What about building a skid plate for the bell housing? That way you can maintain the cert.
|
Out of curiosity when am I going to need the cert on my bellhousing? Why so important to keep that?
Good meeting you Tu |
Just chewed through 40 pages of this build. Outstanding! Congrats on winning the suspension upgrade also! Subscribed!
|
Thanks! It's been going a long time. Wish it was further along but it's getting there. I have a feeling this is the year for this car to finally hit the road!
