Can't wait to see her all painted up but mate, in case I had failed to mention it previously, I'm not a patient person!! lol. Cheers Trevor

They all need something. The fact that it was the roof is what really shocked me. I totally expect the floor or trunk pan. A few small patches here and there, but over all not to bad if you ask me. Could have been a lot worse that's for sure.

Again looking good Curtis!.......:king:

That's all Jim. Guys at his level have an eye for the little things that add up. Once it's home, my job will be to not mess it up!

I think that was more of a matter of how the puzzle fit together that kept him up. Once he saw how it all fit....easy day for him. The fact that the roof had to come off actually helped with the drip rail install....I think. lol

Hi Curtis.

Hi Curtis. Yes definitely could have been far far worse, its a case of hoping for the best but fearing the worst when you start stripping any older car. I had owned mine for a number of years, I knew I had issues mainly to do with previous repairs lurking under what was actually pretty good paint, she still threw a couple of surprises our way, but fortunately nothing major. Cheers Trevor.

Went to dinner with some friends over the weekend. Walked out of the restaurant and there was a Silver Tesla parked by the front door. Sharp looking cars and there are more than a few rolling around Las Vegas. Hadn't seen a Silver one before though. I am going to swing by the dealership and see if they happen to have a Silver one I can look at out in the sunlight. Hope it isn't blinding.

I don't dare throw down a time line. At first it was a couple of weeks, but then things snowballed and the car ended up in bare metal. That would be nice though.

I was able to see one at the dealership yesterday. Gotta say, the Tesla's are pretty cool cars. Not worth what they want for them, but still pretty cool. They did have a silver one on the property, but it was being prepared for delivery and they wouldn't take it out in the sun. Hate to say it, but it didn't wow me in the shop lighting. Maybe I'll get lucky and see one driving around.

Not setting any dates...but my fingers are crossed that it will be ready to come home by March. Probably just jinxed it for myself.

I'm working on it! :bang: Right now Mercedes Alubeam Silver is at the top of my list. I need to have spray outs done.

I am temped to go the satin route with it kind of like this, but it's a move that I'm not sure I am ready for...at least not on this build.

I've got the Noon to 4:30pm shift today. It's rough! I'll probably need a nap around 2-ish.

trevor572 01-05-2016 11:05 AM

Hi Curtis.

Hi Mate. The satin does have a look to it, I personally like it. But I had been told with "black denim" which is a satin black Harley color, the satin clear coat took on a milky appearance over time if exposed to a fair bit of sunlight. So just ask the question Mate. Cheers Trevor.

Vegas69 01-05-2016 06:13 PM

Mike makes a valid point. You may want to consider something that can be duplicated encase you actually drive it and put a chip in it.

Figured I'd use that clear bra stuff behind the tires. Probably in front of the rear to.

Do satin stripes or hockey stick. Would look ghosted with those 2 colors.

:shakehead:

Curtis,

Was hoping you were a little bit too real to 'need' to paint your car in satin.

lol

MaxHarvard 01-06-2016 07:21 AM

Love satin/matte paint. I say go for it!

It's the same color. Just a different clear. Interesting idea and I did give some thought to the idea you are getting at. It just didn't seem right. Pretty sure it will end up with Black Stripes....if I do stripes.

Need? :snapout: Nah man can't do it, thought I do like it. So...it's tempting. Totally different vibe. Maybe on the next one.

I think it would go well on a car that is more of a track or aggressive Street Fighter type of build. I am already wanting to build another one, so who knows! lol

Ricochet 01-07-2016 06:40 AM

Curtis, I'll chime in my opinion.... And you know what they say about those...... Knowing what you what you want to do with the car I would be leary. Satin on the whole car looks great and is different.... But I'm afraid it will be dated and then your stuck redoing it sometime down the road. Not a chance I would take . But then again, I tend to be more conservative. Silver gloss with satin stripe and wheel centers in black would look great IMO. At the end of the day, do what what you want though. You put it out here and you will get hundreds of opinions. Either way though, it will be a nice car!!

I'm of the same opinion. I won't go the satin route on this car. Maybe the next one. Just getting to the current color has been crazy. No way I'd start that B.S. over again. Like I said...maybe the next one.

People wont even talk to me about color anymore. And if I bring it up to the wife it's kind of like :smiley_smack: I swear if she says she doesn't like, I'll be single.

Haha I can not wait to have my wife read this when she gets home she will laugh Whenever I talk color to her all she does is roll her eyes. and say yeah sure what color are you picking next week

trevor572 01-07-2016 04:33 PM

Hi

Hi Guy's. It's a tricky decision for sure, not only are there an almost infinite number of choices available, paint and panel are probably the single most expensive item on most builds, if you don't get it right the first time round you're either stuck with it or it's going to cost a bundle to change it, then you will be single. lol. Cheers Trevor.
