The interior, you did right by your old blue Camaro. Less is more for that entire build! The meanness is what sticks out on that ride.

R.P.

Something very simple and OEM looking. I know there will be no center console. The guage/switch deal will stay and the long parts of the roll bar will be wrapped in black leather. Headliner will be stock and the carpet will be an original style cut. No back seat and the circle track mirror.

The door panels are still under consideration.

Hi Steve,
Do you have a pic of the car with the proper hide height? I remember a pic that had the a$$ end high in the air...
Thanks, David

Well the pic above is pretty close. I won't have the stance nailed until I get the wheels back from Forgeline and install the new (shorter) rear springs.

When we had the 3-link installed and were waiting for shocks the back sat REAL high.

Mean 69 12-28-2006 05:42 PM

A little birdie told me that the new springs are sitting at the shop awaiting install. When are the wheels coming!?

The car was calling out to me when I stopped by the shop today. It was saying "let me out from under this cover, I want to play....." Soon Penny, soon.

What spring rate did you go with?

I know.. I am so ready to have this car done.. I think I will call Forgeline today. Holidays really slow down the process.. Get my message?

Steve I just now had a chance to look at the current PHR and the buildup / LSx swap photos. You did a great job with all the detailed info.

I'm concerned about your oil pressure sender, actually that small 45 deg fitting that you used in order to angle it away from the header...that fitting is going to break. The mass of the sender is too much for it, under vibration. (Think bowling ball stuck on the end of a broomstick).

You might need to use a brass "block" style 45, or try to find some way to support the pressure sender "can", or, find somewhere else on the engine to pick up oil pressure...

I only tuned into this because I had this happen to me once. It was not good.

Thanks, I will look into that. Maybe a small bracket to support the sender. I'm pretty sure there are some mounting points on the block for one. This should take pressure off the sender.

With today's technology I am also surprised at how big these damn senders are..

rwhite692 12-30-2006 02:52 PM

Yes you could tack a small strip of metal to the body of the sender can, which could be configured to reach a nearby unused threaded hole in the block, if there is one nearby...

ha! no :(

Actually Forgeline called me yesterday, my wheels are done and on their way back here. Once they get here the car goes to alignment, exhaust, tune, interior (in that order)

Then just a few minor wiring deals and it's done!!! Hopefully soon I will be on the road.

Leadfoot1 01-30-2007 11:52 AM

Steve,

I'm curious...What is it you had done to your wheels? Refinish, repair or what!?

Its been awhile they have them so i'm starting to be asking what the...

Lead.

Oh i am sorry for asking:(

Do you plan on making feature(in phr) of installation of interior and small stuff ? I am sure that would be intresting.

Not really, it doens't really have any relevance to someone other guys car since mine is so "one off".

Guess I could do the exhaust system as a story, maybe tuning.

The next big "for sure" story will be track testing and of course the obligatory car feature.

For the title I'm thinking either "Bad Girl" or "Going for Broke" .. The later one seems appropriate since I am.. lol

It's magazine etiquite to do a feature on project cars when they are done. Actually Super Chevy wanted it, but it's a PHR car.

Oh, I got your CD, but I need another one with HIGH RES pictures. I will send the this CD over to the Performance Pontiac guys

Unfortunatly, by the time you see it in the magazine the event is long past. I will be there in next few weeks with my Fairlane to do suspension and brakes stories. If you're in Rancho then you will see the car eventually. I plan at being at every event I can get to this summer. If the car is gonna be back over there I will shoot you a PM.

Steve, I Am Not Sure What Else To Say, About Your Car Besides The Fact That Is Totally Bad To The Bone, I Love It

DriverzInc 01-31-2007 04:13 PM

Steve,
Your car is looking awesome. I should stop by one day and check it out. I haven't been by since the blue car. Also, I sent you a PM about something else.

Talk later,

Bowtieracing 02-05-2007 11:23 PM

My harness goes through the trans tunnel above the bellhousing and toward the passengers side just a bit. The ECM is mounted where the heater core would normally go. Before painting the firewall I welded in a offset plate so there would be a place to mount the ECM without putting holes in the firewall.

When the car gets home I will get some pics and post them. Oh, my wheels are set to be delivered today :woot:

SteveMcqueenRules 02-08-2007 12:11 AM

nice

I love this car. i love the articles in PHR about it. I cant find anything wrong with it cept make it a 69 and I would get the powersteering cap milled like a penny and coated copper colored and then I would sell it to me for a penny.
seriously though the colors on everything are great I love the engine color scheme.
