Fun stuff Wayne!! Looks great, like every great build, ya gotta start with a good foundation...in with the engine, out with the engine, in with the engine, out with the engine....never ends lol....anyways, cheers from the golden and broke state..good luck with the remaining "easy stuff"....

All that cutting just to tighten that lower control arm nut huh? :slingshot:

Thanks guys! It's good to have something that shows progress. AJ that bolt being loose was a surprise to see for sure, the other side was the same. No matter how good you think the person who did the work is something could get missed, and in this case it wouldn't be good!

Haven't been around much Wayne! Looking fantastic! Can't wait to see it done!

Thanks Chad.

Those 7 series wheels look really good on your car! We like outside-of-the-box ideas like that.

Well my buddy that helps me pulled something in is neck and been out of action for over a week so I'm doing small stuff until we can get his welder down here to finish the frame notch.
I made up some braided hose for the steam line which will go to the Finch hose reducer. I'll make the final hose once I can measure it when the motor is back in the car. Boy it's a tight squeeze going between the Super charger and the water pump, But I got it in. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pslzq6uwve.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pskxcqgged.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psfneagwbm.jpg The only thing is in the last picture the hose is just about touching the water pump so I'll need to put something to protect the hose. (if I can get it in there.) |
So my buddy cleaned up the inside of the Canton remote oil filter adapter and brought it back to the garage so I could install it. I installed the XRP close 90% ORB fitting in the front opening, went in fine. Then I tried to put the Aeroflow long ORB to AN fitting in, it bottomed out before the O ring was even close so I trimmed the threads on the fitting. I took off 2-3 threads and tried it, no dice! Now I'm wondering how many threads I can safely take off to make this fit. I took annother 1-2 threads and was very close but still not there. My nephew came by and we were talking and he mentioned his broeter in law was a machinest. He said he would check it out. He took it to him and he said there was plenty of threads so he tapped the thread a little deeper in the adapter and installed the fitting. Shortening the threads made the fitting dead end in the opening where it would impeed the oil flow so while he was there he blended the opening into the fitting. He did a nice job and saved me a lot of work.
Here's the adapter. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pswt8lhu1h.jpg Here it is mounted with the fittings and one hose. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pssjlbsqgu.jpg The hoses will run to the rad oil cooler between the base pan and the engine frame mount. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psn1jzhuvp.jpg We also put the motor back in to make sure we had enough room with the notch for the A/C compressor. Which there is plenty. Then we pulled the motor back out. I took a ride and picked up a piece of 11 gauge mild steel to finish up the frame notch. we'll be moving my buddy's welder and plasma cutter to my garage as soon as I get to U Haul to get a trailer. |
I also tried to install the banjo bolts from Sweet Peerformance today for my 4l85 the back one went on nice. I use a thicker aluminum crush washers to clock the hole in the banjo bolt to line up with the -6AN exit part of the fitting to help with flow as much as I could.
Then it was on th the front. I pulled the factory fitting out and tried the banjo fitting. It bottomed out before the crush washer was even close. So I measured the thread legnth against the factory fitting and found the problem. The bajo had quite a bit more thread then the original. I trie a thicker cruch washer but they didn't work. Heres the differance. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psgmmfzgbe.jpg With both crush washers this is how much space it had. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pselfpbyks.jpg Sweet Performane is away until tomorrow so I'll get intouch with them and see what he says. I don't want to shorten it because it's Cad plated and I don't want a sliver to come loose and get in the trans. |
