I was listening to "Outshined" the other day and the first thing that came to my mind was your car. The second thing was how I always used to play this game called Road Rash on Sony PlayStation back in the day and the soundtrack had Outshined and Rusty Cage on it. Those were the days. :beavis:
|
I'm ok with that being a sign of good things to come.
|
So, you are saying that you used to have a car than ran? WOW

But that also doesn't mean it isn't true! Aw heck the car was gonna get blown up at some point.... Quote:

Stay strong DG. :D
Don't want Lil Flash to see pain in your eyes... ....when 'BMF' is spoken of in his presence. lol |

And the custom removable box muffler made by Rob @ No Limit (which surely appears to be a very well made cool piece at a very fair price) was great in theory. I think it would have worked had Fab5.3 not sized it to fit in the majority of the space allowed. There was just not enough area around the big box (less than an inch everywhere I could see) for airflow and any cooling assistance we thought. So CorteX and I agreed on scrapping that piece unfortunately. So I ordered up 2 more smaller mufflers the other day to hopefully go in tandem with my other 2 small bullet mufflers and we'll start there. If we have to add a larger case or do something about that later, it won't be the largest project ever and access is relatively easy where this is happening. Collector transitions are finished http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psbyhdyn5a.jpg And I did take delivery of some cool parts lately which always feels kinda good. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psqp6hd1to.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psci63t1hn.jpg |
Wow. I feel a bit honored to have elicited a response that resembles an actual progress update with multiple photographs.... That's pretty monumental stuff in a thread such as BMF.:stirthepot:
NOW, in the other spirit of the thread... That's a nice measure of commitment DG, being that tires are date coded. :poke:  That has to be one of the most wicked reinforced looking clutch plates I have ever seen. What's the story there? Definitely not standard issue right? |
I've been rereading some of this build(?) trying to figure out what's really going on...
It looks like CorteX has the suspension just about wrapped up and some other fab is happening with exhaust and what not. Motor/drivetrain ready? Body looks ready other than flares and exhaust trim. Seats in Babies born and at least crawling around, congratulations by the way. Kids are an eye opener! Tires, clutch.....I've read a couple times that you've said it'll be done when it's done but it's gotta be getting close! |
Quote:
But seriously, with BFG only making about a few sets it seems before of Rivals, I got on a waiting list awhile ago and decided to get them now while I can. Who knows if I'd be able to in the future. Clutch discs are from Quartermaster.... dual disc.... some kind of "rally" hybrid material.... SUPPOSED to fit my Tilton setup.... that's all I got. We'll all find out at some point. Quote:
Suspension is done. Exhaust has been a pain (for them and me) but is nearing completion. I'll grab it soon and take it to get it coated since I am close by. Motor/drivetrain have been ready for more than a year. Motor was completed and dyno'd in late 2013. That sucker is ready to sing. Flares will happen later, maybe this coming winter or next year. Seats/pedals will be mounted here soon as well as tie in to the diagonal and harness bar CorteX will add. Son is nearing 6 months old and is the best distraction anyone could ask for. Thanks  And yes, done when it's done is the name of the game. :sieg: |
I am pretty bummed that I won't get to see what this would've sounded like.

I thought that was a smoker. Throw a couple racks of ribs in while making laps, eat them between runs. LOL
Just add it to the wall of shame...mine is getting full. |

Did Crick build those transitions from the headers? Those look time consuming.
|
Quote:
No easy way to transition from a super upside down sideways cross hex Double D into a circle.... and that's just the rear. The front "collector" replaces the regular NASCAR merge collector and transitions 2 2-1/4" pipes into a parallelogram (or is it rhombus? :sieg:) thingy then into the Double D... Um, yeah. If I had better pics I'd show them but I don't right now. |
You need to send that part east, that bulletproof muffler belongs on my new military truck.

400+ pages!! And the car is still in pieces...Lol.
the only reasonable explanation that I can come up with is that I've been gone so long I missed out on the fact that you already finished the car... Then tracked it for a season but decided to tear it down because it just wasent the Mustang you envisioned when you first started building the car. that's the case right?! :P :P :P |

I am, that's my optimistic timeline.

That is some sweet work right there Dave.

Nice you could use a Cali company... |
You better put that cool suit on your Christmas list. Because your chestnuts are going to be roasting on an open fire.LOL
Fab looks great, you gotta be happy with that. |
Quote:
Heat shielding for that fire bottle.........reminds me of a potential bomb in that pic. :D Seriously, is their performance affected by temperature extremes? |
Lots going on there in a small space. Fab looks really clean, tell them to hurry up and get the rest complete.
|
Quote:
It will surely be interesting... but coating, wrap, and shielding is already planned to try to deal with this. Time will tell. Hopefully not Todd's timeline of course. And yeah they do nice work up there and are good at problem solving, which I was happy to oblige them with. Quote:
And the nearby heat potential and its effect is a good question. I do not know how sensitive that is. Must research. Or just relocate. Quote:

Nice to see the progress pics, like this is really happening (or are you just copying someone elses pics just to tease us?)....Nice to see the avatar change as well (a little oil on the brain never hurt no one)....oh and btw, the tires you bought do have spoil date, so either a) there someone elses tires and that is a fake pic cause your the only one on this planet with Rival's lol OR b), this is really happening....
|
Quote:
The avatar change was to remind me that I had a running car once. :sieg: Waiting for/watching my car get worked on gives me some time to do things like get on the right waiting list for tires... :) |

Most. Complicated, yet stylish. Exhaust. Ever. (except for an odd CP car or two)
I'll look forward to having earplugs to witness this thing demonstrating kinetic abilities in the future! |
IIRC... ALL THIS STARTED CUZ OF A BLOWN HEAD GASKET :confused59: :military:

I was going to tell you that your exhaust is on the wrong side for running at Laguna Seca, but I doubt it would make enough of a difference anyway.

Earplugs are recommended for driver, but not passenger. Quote:

All sound meters at Norcal tracks are on the passenger sides (typically), hence the driver side exit. Don't give me a lot of credit, but give me just a little please. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...track_tips.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...at-105db-w.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...1229093843.jpg |
