JJ I'd love some nice valve covers but my wife overheard me talking about Granitelli wires and surprized me with a set last Christmas, so there won't be any relocating of coils for this motor, not with what she paid for these wires!

I was out in the garage for a while today and test fit the oil lines to the remote filter and when the radiator support goes back in I'll plumb the oil cooler in the Radiator.
This was the idea I had when it was on the engine stand. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psncpzn7qj.jpg Here it is installed loosely. They are not as tight to the oil pan as they look. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pscnyuyj84.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pscgbc7kdl.jpg They clear all hot or moving parts. They will also have a hose seperator bolted to the block to keep them safely away from everything. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pspypwzukq.jpg In this picture you can see the aluminum piece bolted to the block, there is also a bolt hole right below it. I will drill and tap the aluminum for the hose seperator. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psoytjeh4m.jpg Here you can see the room I have. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pskddrqgov.jpg The return line is connected to the filter the long hose will be secured to the frame or inner fender on its way to the bottom of the in radiator cooler. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pswvjwrm89.jpg Then its to figure the routing of the discharge from the cooler to the in side of the filter. |
We spent 3-4 hours in the garage Tuesday trying to get the trans bolted to the motor, and it kicked our A$$. It was definitely not our day. It had been in 3 times before and it wasn't going in this time that day, so it was time to run and come back to fight another day.
We got a fresh start today and in 45 minutes it was in and bolted up! I guess the engine wasn't at the right angle to mate up yeasterday. We got it in and made room for the electrical connection to the trans (Clearanced the floor), and had to call it a day. In less than 1/4 the time we got a lot more done. Sometimes it better to step away and chill until cooler heads prevail. No pictures today, maybe tomorrow. |

I spent all day and most of the night in the garage Friday removing mill scale from my brackets we made. Holy moly I wish I was as tough as that crap is!! It took for ever, had to quit because I could feel my neighbor zeroing in on me with his rifle for the compressor running after 11:30. He shouldn't complain there IS 9' between his bedroom and the garage. The next day I used Eastwood fast etch on all of them, then sprayed them with high zinc content primer. Then some black paint. Thank God for my reperator, that zinc paint will kill you quick.
Here's a few pictures. Here's a couple of the brackets after Fast Etch http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps1ueou3fx.jpg Some primed parts. Smaller is for the Heat exchanger pump and the long one is for the remot oil filter. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pskz5sjtfx.jpg Both installed http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psdfch9cgi.jpg I also did the same to the spacer for the trans mount, and the remote hood latch. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...pshu0l7bvr.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psz3llgynr.jpg Next will be the piece of the latch that connects to the hood. |
