Getting in late, crappy weather and then having to mess with a forklift.
Does not sound like a fun end to a road trip.

Maybe you could put a turntable in your "shed". Then you wouldn't even have to back in.

If you cant figure this one out I will be flabbergasted. 1.6 acres should give you plenty of room to move things around in your favor.

It's not only "beautiful" (if you like sagebrush)... but the area is so vibrantly ACTIVE -- skiing - hiking - fishing - AND the best part... it's small town USA like back in the 50's... Everybody is friendly. They actually know your name and you know theirs... And that's the part we like the best.






Well --- I left with the intention of doing a two "part of a day" trip... so headed out on Sunday around noon.... drove into Oregon -- and knew their was a beautiful scenic lookout up the old Oregon Trail Hwy (okay -- it's off I-84) in the hills just east of Pendleton..... Spent the night there. I WAS all by myself in the lot --- until two woman got towed in --- with a busted down tranny -- pulling a 5 horse trailer. All the noise etc got Stella barking - so had to open the door to check out what the deal is... then got talking to the ladies --- whom were besides themselves with the drama. I fired up the generator - flipped on the big azz quartz lights -- and next thing you know we're all hanging out in the trailer blabbing while they waited on a friend to rescue them from Baker City. The one is a horse vet here in Bellevue -- and the other a horse trainer -- who works for ---- A guy here that has MANY Brizio street rods. In fact the Briz -- and Vic Edelbrock and Mumford et al are coming here in July after Deuce Days in Victoria -- to spend some time with Bob. SMALL WORLD.


So ----- I have NEVER liked the way this rig "brakes".... and while sitting quietly - before the ladies showed up.... I was reading up on the controller etc. After setting it the next morning --- I could feel nothing when running it "manually". During a fuel stop I decided to check the master cylinder (they're electric hydraulic brakes) and there's ZERO fluid in the reservoir. That could explain a few things!).... Started to call truck repair shops on the way to see if perhaps we could bleed the system. Found a shop in Ontario that could take me in.... And found two of the six flex lines had holes in them from rubbing against the wheels. A 90 mile round trip to the parts store that had two --- and install and bleed.... took most of the day -- but made SV early evening last night.

Still have no trailer brakes though... and frankly "jim bobs" truck and trailer repair wasn't the place I wanted working on my stuff anyway. Will work on getting the system squared away at a dealer in Boise on the way home.

Peaceful..... Until..... the "girls" arrived. The tow truck could only chain them up and drag them into the turn out... then waited until a buddy could come with his rig to take the horses (5 of them!) and take the girls to safety. It was midnight by this time but WTF - we had fun. They were very appreciative of the lights -- a dry warm place -- a man with a gun.... (reminds me of a Beatles song).

AND before the girls arrived --- I pulled out the handy dandy little gas bbq and made myself some dinner... just because you're on the road doesn't mean you can't eat well! And lord knows I wouldn't want to miss a meal! I had built the shelf for the BBQ and spares could ride. Normally this compartment would house a gen set.

Like GWEN has said -- this isn't about "YOUR" truck... we're building a house. I agree. I'll figure it out. Actually --- the development has pavers for sidewalks -- and I'm thinking that adding a pavered sidewalk -- in conjunction with the GINORMOUS driveway I'm building anyway -- will give me the turning radius I need. I just don't want to drop a wheel into mud.... or snow... so will measure my turning radius and then work to see what can be built to accommodate that.

Say no more. The bowling ball in the bowling ball bag has been replaced by your nut sack and Gwen has stashed it away. Cant say I blame her.....that rig of yours probably cost 10 times what the lot did. :popcorn2:

Jawarren (our trainer) asked me once --- ARE YOU EATING WELL? To which I replied --- Yes! I eat really well! He says.... NO! Are you eating WELL? To which I replied YES! I'm eating REALLY well!

We don't eat anything with WHEAT in it.... we eat ORGANIC if at all possible... but MEAT is a priority... and salad of some kind....

Lucky for me - Gwen had made her world famous Zucchini frittata the Saturday night --- and I had made my world famous Cuccumber/Walla Walla/Tomato salad.... and I was smart enough to bring along some leftovers!

I bought a few smaller steaks at Costco --- and marinated them in zip locks (one per bag) and stuck them in the small freezer. That way all I have to do is thaw one out -- and bam! We got a meal!
