Our thoughts EXACTLY Dale....

There is a 55 MPH section of Hiway 75 but that's down near Hailey..... We'd only go there if we need to go to the airport. LOL

Otherwise - it's 25 MPH and 35 MPH once you're "out of town" --- town is about 15 square blocks. A guy can easily get lost!

The initial plans are for 4000' of "shop" under the house -- large enough to suck up 65' of truck with 14'+ high ceilings... That will ALL have to be excavated. Some of those walls will be used as foundation for the house - but the house is about 6200 sq feet so it isn't a one for one exercise... and the lot is variable with the slopes etc.

Get this -- the roof load -- 125 #'s per square foot rated....

Well looks like you can get rid of the personal trainer. You won't need him cause its a work out just walking around the house with 10k sqft .
So do you have a man cave with the shop area? Wine cellar? etc...

That brake line bugs me, manufacturing negligence liability?

Based on my eye in the sky your cul-de-sac is approx. 95' dia. What's the turning radius of that hog?

You have a set of plans already? Those numbers dont surprise me. With a house that big your sure to encounter some decent sno loads.

Yes we do....and that's what brings up the square footage. A little here - a little there. We actually started much smaller - there's just the two of us... BUT --- always that danged big butt! WE realized after talking to our friends that THEY intended to come over and stay... and not just for the weekend! They were dead serious about being here a week or two. So we set up two of the bedrooms with a shared common area with kind of a kitchenette/living room set up. Sofa - chairs - dinning table etc. Thinking that someone may want to just get away -- go have a beer - or wine or whatever and just relax and watch some tv etc.... or in the morning -- be able to get up and make coffee etc and lounge around. WE also like our own space... and need to plan on grandkids etc. People come over to ski -- play golf - ride bikes etc... so we're planning for all of that.

So all of a sudden you get project creep...

I already told the dealership... but that's what happens when you buy used. Oh well. I'll just get it all working "the Weld way"... and it'll be fine. The thing I'm learning is that these trailers are kinda not really truck trailers -- and not really RV's either. The real truck guys don't want to have anything to do with them... the brakes are "air"... and they don't do electric hydraulic brakes... that's "RV" stuff. The RV guys are few and far between... and generally want to service what they sold/sell.

RE: Da Cul da sackie

I was told the cul d sac was 110' radius.... I was told my truck had a turning radius of 55' feet. Both numbers are complete crap. I think the 110' "radius" was really DIAMETER.... because I could "almost" make the circle... so I'm close.

We are on about floor plan #5 or 6 now -- getting close. We're suppose to have some sketches of elevations while we're here this time.

The main level floor is at about 6172' of elevation -- so yeah -- big time snow loads.

The driveway will be heated... does that count??

Sieg 06-25-2013 10:03 PM

I took my conservative measurement off Google maps sat photo, so 110' works.

Maybe you can lobby for rolled curbing and over-width sidewalks?

Shoot me a floor plan if you can, I'd like to see how it flows.

Greg whats the weather like there in the summer? Might be a good idea to start planting some shade trees. Also, if it gets Nor Cal hot be sure to use roof sheathing with radiant barrier. IIRC radiant barrier sheathing will cool attic temps 15*. I went with two 4 1/2 ton 95% efficient furnaces with 17 seer ac units. Tankless water heaters will save on the energy bills as well. I installed two and put them in the attic. One serves the east side of the house and the other the west side. I went with Lennox gas fireplaces that are remote activated. Set the temp on the remote and when the temp drops to the set temp on the remote it will light on its own. Mansfield makes some nice and big jet tubs.
Brings back memmories.....lots of work finding the deals but well worth the end result!!
