I guess it is time for the monday morning update.

The Rear quarters, floor and outer wheel tubs from Classic Industries are all landed and tacked in the car. We decided to make our own package tray and the section from the package tray to the rear winodow channel. Our Custom build 35 spline axles from Strange Engineering arrived, We are waiting on our "NEW" 35 spline truetrac to be avaliable to get the built to order center section from Strange Engineering some time next month. The 14" Wilwood brakes have arrived and we installed them for mockup both front and rear. The anodized black Ring Brother hinges have been installed, They work so smooth. We have a set of Ring Brother hood pins, but cannot install them until we get the front sheetmetal fit perfectly. Those beautiful Anvil Auto carbon parts are hard to repair if you damage them, so measure twice cut once.

We had a small problem with getting to run the Silver State Classic next month. The rollcage we had choosen from Chassisworks was an 1.625 cage. We choose that to save weight and in any of the sanctioning bodies we would have ran, they would not have required anything more. Well as soon as we are going to run the Silver State faster then 125, they required a 1.75" x .120 DOM cage. We cannot run that fast our first year, but I hate having to go back and change stuff. Chassisworks said they would get us a 1.75" cage but they were out of stock and it would be 2 weeks. Well when you have 7 weeks to get the car running 2 weeks is alot of time to be set back. So I decided we would pass on the Silver State this year and just focus on being ready for the Optima Street Car Shootout in November. Well Enjoy the pics and lets see how much we get done this week. 10 days till she has to be in Pleasanton in the Chassisworks booth.

Too bad about the cage issues. Im surprized you guys didnt make your own. At least the pressure is put off a little on time restraints now that your shooting for the Optima schedule.
Rear tray is turning out nice.

Sure we could have built the cage and put corvette stuff in the car and done any of a number of a million other things, but the plan for the car is to build it with off the shelf parts and just add our spin here and there just to clean things up. It is actually kinda fun and a challenge to figure out how to make think as trick as we try to do on a daily basis, but in a cheaper less labor intensive fashion.

For Example, The dry sump tank we have discussed with more smarter people then me and they had the idea of put it behind the right front tire in the fire wall, but how would you do that or have access? So we came up with the bring idea of tanking the Peterson Tank and welding the base of the new Air ride Fuel cap to the top of it so the fuel cap sticks out through the outside of the right front fender. It should make people say hay why is that here? Or they may just hate it. It reminds me of Smokey Yunick who filled the oil tank in the passenger seat area.

Wait till you see what we do with the Dual Optima Batteries in the back seat.

Rodger, I keep forgetting this project is geared towards off the shelf parts.
Great idea on the sump tank. Looks great so far.

Well We had to shorten the passenger fender 3/16 of an inch behind the wheel opening to get everything to fit right. You can see the cut line in the sanded away E coating fron the stock fenders that came with the car. So here is where the project is currently at.

Great project! I like the idea of bolt ons, with just enough fab work that a normal guy like me could do it.

Quick question, out of curiousity, how did you make the recessed areas in the package tray like this? I assume some special bead-roller type deal.
