That hot rod looks SO bad ass...I just wish they'd have done something more with the stock gas tank. It looks funny hanging out there in the wind like that.
If Busby is involved, it'll be fast. LOVE the brakes! |
As beautiful and well fabricated as that rig is, I still have a hard time reconciling "race chassis" and the front end horse buggy suspension. Its kind of messing with my head actually - triangulated Nascar/GT style front end space frame, with radius arms, CF brakes and a deadmans axle.

A little while ago I found a post on either this or another forum of a young guys Tig welding that was just outstanding. I have never seen anything like it. I also remember there were pics of a mini truck he was building with his brother. I have been searching the forum and cant find it anywhere. Does anyone remember this or have a link to it????

I couldn't not respond to this thread! You guys have covered a lot of the cars that have inspired me (ie. Terrible Herbst Trophy Trucks, Robby Gordon's Hummer, Brunning Auto, Rad Rod by Troy...etc etc). I started out interested in the off-road stuff and in university I designed and built a custom off-road race car ...er go kart from scratch. I spent many hours studying class 1 cars and trophy trucks on Race Dezert!
Now I work for an off-road racing transaxle company (Weddle Industries). Someone posted Robby Gordon's Hummer wondering what it started out as. That's a custom tube frame race car with a hummer body (carbon fiber of course) on top, it's basically a class 1 buggy. We sold him the transaxle that it uses and do all the prep work/rebuilds on the trans. Lots of cars and shops on here inspire me: Gonzo, Ironworks, Penny, Payback, BentFab, Built by Brooks, Bill Amsley, Fesler.... Good on ya! -Dave ps. hey, my first post! I almost went a year just lurking! |
