AJ awesome work! I'm worried about wiring mine and its got all the connections labeled.lol It's coming along very nice.

i know newer GM electronics like the back of my hand so i wire them how i want it to work for me. after i get them how i want them i open the schematic in windows paint and redo everything and print it out so if i sell the car someone can figure out what ever they need.
example: the pink wire to the MAF is a 12v switched power that controls a few other sensors. it now also is the switched 12v to my alternator since the corvette alternator needs to see that to turn on unlike the camaro alternator. |
Car is looking good.

got one of my seats friday and started building seat mounts for it. its on adjustable sliders and i made the mounts out of 1/8" plate and moved the seats back about 4" for better balance. the passenger side is done, going to try and get the driver side done this week sometime.
mocked up to check fitment http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4033781_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...5_104799_n.jpg seat mounts done http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1210985_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1046636_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3729254_n.jpg |
got the driver seat done today and the steering column mocked up.

started my HID conversion tonight since i didn't get a lot of time to get too deep into anything else.
started with these. http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/90...38-WA7403C.jpg took some time to get them apart and not brake the glass. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3218859_n.jpg got the back side cut off and the HID lens fitted in. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5998031_n.jpg after everything looked good i sanded the metal mounting ring and the head lamps and used 3M panel bond. its awesome stuff if you have never used it. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3812148_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...4_791768_n.jpg |
got my oil accumulator today and got it mocked up.
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3703683_n.jpg since the space behind the passenger tulip is wasted space now i cut the sheet metal out. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6697383_n.jpg its an extra 3qt. of oil just in case i loose pressure at the track in a high G turn. after i finish the top mount i'll fab up a close out panel and use dzus fasteners to hide everything. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._8153025_n.jpg |
AJ -- How are you going to operate it if you need it?
|
it will have the electric solenoid on it, they make it kit that when turned on will discharge and recharge the system as needed. i figured since its a little smaller than the 1/4 turn valve on it now that when i plumb it in after all the fab work is done i can replace it then.
and i already have a custom switch picked out to turn it on:unibrow: |
so since i got the seat mounted and the steering column mocked up i was able to build my steering shaft and cut the firewall for the column. i didn't take any "in process" pictures just the done ones.
it just so happens that 2 1/2" exhaust pipe works very well for a pass though when you have angles to deal with. inside of car http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6308210_n.jpg outside of car http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2134487_n.jpg shortened the steering column about 7" http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7413318_n.jpg then built a lower column mount since the firewall is no longer a mounting point. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7391932_n.jpg then i got the intermediate steering shaft done. i had a few GM shafts laying around that were being scrapped at work. the rubber boot is from one of the cobalt steering shafts. so parts from the cobalt shaft and a impala shaft were made to work. its also collapsible to reduce vibration. so far it works pretty good, once i tighten everything up to double check we'll see if it works. if not then i'll build a new one with double D shaft and joints. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7269031_n.jpg p.s. 2 turns lock to lock, pretty quick ratio steering gear. |
