I should have never admitted that I thought it was a really well built car... |

Rob -- why are you not starting the dyno duns lower than 4500? After all I thought this was a torquey street motor. :_paranoid I wanna know what it does at 3000 or 3500. |

Intake side isn't the problem. The exhaust ports on these motors suck by todays standards. A lot has been learned in 40+ years. We left a lot of hp on the table by not filling and reshaping the exhaust side. Blair came up with a cam and some other tricks to crutch the exhaust side. Now that we've run this combo he's pretty sure there is some easy hp to be had with a different cam profile. For now I'm good with what it is putting out. Quote:

Funny how everyone will spend endless amounts of $$ trying to make their car "unique" in every way but the motor. Tried and true speedway floater isn't bling enough or I need some HREs not Forglines. But under the hood cookie cutter is always good enough. I like 60s cars. I don't want it to ride or stop like one but that RS chassis is pretty well hidden so it will do it's job somewhat unnoticed. I want mine to look like a 60s car and still have the soul of hp past. Nothing wrong with building a car just because of the body lines if that is what you want it just isn't my goal. I started my build based on the motor and the car. That's jsut what I like. |
Looks good man. And I thought mine was a boat anchor. No wonder that Torino is so damn big.

Glad everything worked out as planned.

^ Love the 'mad scientist' basement vid ...

Motor sounded very linear... and just ran without a hiccup. NICE!
I've been around the dyno quite a bit (buddy owns one) and it's funny how some motors might make a nice piece of paper -- but when they're pulling I'm thinking... I'd be changing that or Ouch or something else. I like 'em when they just pull and the rpms climb. |

I have to thank Jay Brown the owner of the "lab". :wow: Just a great guy with a passion for cars and Motors, FE motors. He ran his dyno for three days morning to night and even fed us a beer or two. Wrenching on the little 352 http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/jaythems.jpg Now it's about time to start the 1k mi drive South and then get on a plane back to CA Tues morning.:faint: |
wow....Jay Brown...he knows his FE's.
Motor sounds wicked Rob! :hail: |

Yea Jay does know his FEs. But that hillbilly turning a wrench on the drivers side valve cover is the FE Magician. Hangin out with those two didn't make me feel smart about these motors that's for sure.:( http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...ca/intakes.jpg |

Now that's a vacation.
And your build plan is probably my favorite one on this forum. Wait, did I just say that? :D  |
I would have liked to see what the two dual plane TP intakes would have done. Both are very hard to come by and very expensive. Cool build. Next time I go to see the Mother-in-law in MN I may have to go out for coffee and end up a Jay's place.
|
Nice dyno graph, that should be fun!
|
Congratulations Rob, sounds like you've got an impressive motor that's gonna be under foot.
Can't beat the sound of a vintage motor, spitting out a little fire :unibrow: What's next on the project? |
She sounds smooooooooooooooth
|
It's gonna be so cool to see a high hp FE powered car, AND one that can go around corners, AND that's not a cobra! Very cool build Rob.

Way too cool! My Marketing Director just bought a 1969 Ford Torino GT this last weekend. It's 100% stock and needs a full resto though. He wants to make it into a pro touring machine as well. Although yours will blow his out of the water!
Where in SoCal are yah? We are in Corona. |
Quote:
Your Marketing director will have more $$ to drive his. All mine is tied up in building it. You can't build a bad Torino:unibrow: Is his a 390 or a Windsor? I'm in Orange. I was checking out some of your stock door panels at SEMA. Nice stuff. My buddy has some in his bug. I didn't see the 68/69 Fairlane Torino panels on display.:unibrow: Hey Quote:

[QUOTE=FETorino;446070]Sounds good. Check it out. just click on the pic.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...GOPR0564-1.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/RD498_12.jpg Very impressive numbers. |

I believe his is the Windsor with an FMX Auto. He just picked the car up last weekend. And no Torino door panels. I highly doubt that we would ever get into that market either. But maybe my Marketing Director comes up with something cool then can have another set made for you? We will have to see what happens there. |
Your car would be great with some TMI door panels. I have some slightly modified TMI upholstry on ny 88GT seats, and most people think the 67 came that way (that was the idea)
Maybe they could call them "extended" Mustang door panels. Better put lots of padding for the corners! |

How about I sell you some sheets of Aluminum, slap a TMI sticker on it, and call it a TMI NASCAR Door Panel?   Cut to fit, naturally.
