nice job.. jody :D

nice build. I think the coils will be fine as long as they do have the dielectric grease on them and you don't go through the automatic car wash and get the undercarriage cleaned. But I can't describe the distaste I'd have if I ever saw a car like that in an automatic car wash.

Looking great Jody! You're really throwing all you've learned over the years at this build and we love it!! The end is near!! Turn that key!! :woot:

I did, and nada, nothing, ..................... No rpm signal, so it's not gonna fire. Everything appears to be working except that. Got an e-mail in to John Meaney, but got a feeling it could be a box or harness issue. I did swap the pins on the crank sensor as per my other thread, just for the hell of it.............. nothing, no rpm showing when it's cranking. Jody |
not sure it helps here.. but i had a simmilar issue on an electromotive injected car i did a few years back and the problem ended up being an ECU undervoltage issue when cranking.. so try and do a test with an additional batt close to the starter
we solved it with a small lead batt next to the ecu and a diode to prevent it supplying current back into the main circuit.. but still accept the charge when the alt was at 13.5V just 2 cents that might come in handy |

One of the obvious things that it shouldn't be but has happened to a few.
Do you have the right box for the engine? You know they changed the crankwheel to 58 tooth on the LS2. If you have the old box that is set up for 24 tooth you can get the problem you have. Jan |

If it fired up the first time we all would have had to killed you. Just to perfect of a build so far. You would have made it seem to easy. :) |
well, it's fired up now.................. :woot: A ton of thanks to John Meaney of BigStuff 3, as there's no way it would have been fixed without his help. I had loaned the computer to a friend of mine who is a BigStuff dealer, and he had changed config settings in a hidden dealer-only menu that we cannot see. John was nice enough to tell me how to get into it, and once I saw all the settings I knew what the issue was. Changed them back to LS stuff, and it fired right up.
Needs tuning, pretty fat, but at least it's running, and sounds good. Glad to know that I didn't do something wrong, but really glad to know it's fixed. Jody |
Awesome!!!!!!!!! We need video.
|
Congrats!!
x2 on the video  |
I really like this thread alot cause it gets updated on a daily basis.

Steve coming with us ?

Good to hear Jody and congratulations to you. The reward of having the engine come to life is worth all hours spent to reach that point.
Now let us see a video when you drive it down the road next to you on full throttle. Like the video you did on your yellow Camaro. Quote:

thanks Jannes and everyone else, glad you're enjoying the updates.

Painter Jim  showed up today, and painted the small metal section under the rear window in the dark gray matte finish. Now I can have the front and rear windows installed this week.
I also got my carbon fiber console pieces from Wabbits inTexas. Guys do great work, and they got them to me fast. Here's a few pics of how it turned out. http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude%20636.jpg http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude%20637.jpg http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude%20638.jpg http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude%20639.jpg |

Jody do you have any link to Wabbits?
If I Google the word Wabbits all I get is Rabbits links, thanks to a certain Elmer Fudd Google apparently thinks that everybody says Wabbits when they mean Rabbits   Jan |
Looking fantactic.

ok, not much as far as pics, but things are progressing. After the hidden config issue inb the BigStuff 3 that Mr. Meaney helped me solve, I then ran into an issue with the map sensor not reading correctly. I'd show 15" of vacuum and the computer showed 3-4", so the tuning was screwed up. I bought a new 2-bar map sensor and installed it, same thing. So I started thinking there was something in the computer.
Again, John to the rescue. He confirmed that I did not have the correct map sensor. I went to the dealer and bought a third one from a part number from John, everythings perfect. What's the odds of getting two incorrect sensors in a row? Don't know, but Malitude is living up to it's reputation................ Here's proof it's running, notice the nice gold color the headers are now. I'll be able to drive it once my new SC&C uca's arrive; needed them as I can't get enough camber with the Hotchkis arms because of the proximity of the downpipe to the control arms. http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude 650.jpg http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude 651.jpg Solved another issue. I thought the dipstick was going to be a major pita, as there is no hole in the pan for it, and the hole in the block has been tapped and threaded. I ordered a Lokar ED-5008 LS1 flexible dipstick tube, and with some creative tweaking to the support bracket it works great. The o-ring still fit snug in the hole, and I added a bit of clear silicone just in case. I love the Lokar engine and trans dipsticks as they allow you to move them where they fit for you. http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude 648.jpg http://www.camcojb.com/temp/malitude 649.jpg Front and rear glass goes in tomorrow, I'm going to wire up the speakers for the stereo, and plumb the a/c. Jody |
up late huh
pics look great as alway's |
Nice work Jody!!
Man I love SS headers once warmed up...can't wait for mine to change color!! The windshields will really make the car look finished!! |
Man you must be excited! Just wondering....it looks like you are missing the nut on the oil pan stud?
|
Quote:
yes it is. That's part of the coil bracket mount, uses two of the oil pan studs. Had to remove them to fit the dipstick tube. Jody |
damn jody 44pages and still more to come!!!
