Looking forward to seeing it soon. I'm in Spokane for the night, I may have to drive east a few miles tomorrow...

Rented a 24 ft Enclosed trailer last Friday and picked up the car up on Friday.
Spent Saturday and Sunday cleaning parts, Assembled the rear end, ran most of the fuel lines, moving on to the front suspension now.

I really love the color on this car.

tones2SS 03-04-2015 04:50 PM

Coming along nicely!
Like Marty stated above. That color is gorgeous.

waynieZ 03-04-2015 06:20 PM

Sweet! Moving right along.

96z28ss 03-18-2015 12:07 PM

Finished installing the fuel lines. Installed the tank. Got the front suspension installed.
Going to re-do some of the brake lines as they aren't up to my current standards. They were done 9 years ago, and they were done a pit sloppy and you can tell, when you look at how nice the fuel lines are.

small update that has taken me a few weeks to finish.
Got the Dash, and Roll bar painted black. Also had the trunk painted in the factory splatter paint.

http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/IMG_2804.JPG

Also got the Finch Performance dual over flow canister installed.
I'll take pics of the plumbing side when I get a chance.

waynieZ 03-31-2015 06:51 PM

Same as everything else you,ve done on the car beautiful job in the trunk.

Rybar 03-31-2015 09:09 PM

Looking pretty sweet there Bob.

SlowProgress 03-31-2015 09:12 PM

Super cool build. I like the exhaust relief cuts in the trunk. I am hoping to do something similar when I get there to avoid the big square corner look. Nicely done !

96z28ss 04-30-2015 05:11 PM

slowed down on the car a little bit.

I changed some of the brake lines and how they were run. I still have to finish it up.
I decided to also get the motor and trans painted. Brought all my parts to Tim's house and his friend Chris painted them for me.
Its a Ford Ruby Red tri coat color with a matte clear over it.

Unmasking the parts is like opening Christmas presents for an adult gearhead. You can also see how the matte finish looks in this picture.

Nice!!!!!

96z28ss 06-04-2015 10:28 PM

So Like I said in earlier posts.
I changed the brake lines around, they were done about 9 years ago, and they just didn't look good when you looked at the Fuel lines Tim ran for me.

I put a wilwood proportioning valve in. Its a neat little unit, it makes it clean and easy. It also gave me another reason start changing the lines.

http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/IMG_2839.JPG

Then of course I looked at the wilwood cover and it looked too Blah...
So I designed up a new one and machined it.

Slowly piecing the motor together. Its hard when I only have a couple hours a night to work on it. However I'm chipping away at it.

Check out these vintage parts Im using.

Water pump, ATI 8 rib Dampner, and fuel pressure regulator in place.

WSSix 06-06-2015 01:52 PM

Love the matte finish on the engine. The engine bay is going to pop!

Scott Haggai 06-08-2015 06:13 PM

Awesome finish on the motor! Builds looking good!

Valve cover still undecided on what I'm doing.
Might just do a satin black finish.

Not easy building a killer UNIQUE 69 Camaro these days.

Serious question Bob... how many different color schemes did you go through in your head over the years before arriving at this one.

Love it.

windycitychev 06-09-2015 06:53 AM

second time I go through the entire build thread and just bad ass

Love it.

Its really not that Unique, its just a 69 Camaro with some mild custom touches. Nothing that hasn't been seen before. I wish I had the funds to really build something unique.

As far as color schemes go since day one I wanted silver. I was going to do a silver like the Mule. That is what got me into pro-touring. Then as the YEARS went by I started to like the darker silver tones. I saw a Nissan GTR at a local cruise (Beaches) and liked the way the color flopped. That's what I stuck with.
Every Camaro I have built I have painted the motor red. I'm not crazy about the Chevy orange. If I had painted the car a light silver I would have painted the engine bright red. Since I went with a much darker silver gray. I wanted the motor to be a dark red.
Where I work we have a full paint facility and I get to see a lot of the current colors as parts come off the line. One day I walk past a bin of parts being tossed in the trash all a dark Ford Ruby Red (2014 F150). I ask the paint manager what's up and he said they were having problems with the ruby red its a candy color and its not matching the factory paint. The paint manufacture was working on a new formula and they were waiting for it. He was going to also toss out gallons of this paint out also. I asked him if I could have it. I was going to do a matte finish anyways, and I didn't have to match any body panels. He gave me the paint.
That's how I came up with the paint scheme.
