This is going to be gorgeous. Awesome work.

ANVIL1 08-16-2011 08:33 PM

Awesome looking work, Cris! I'm glad Tracy could head up to your shop to help you fit parts today. It's always great to work with you and you make our parts look so good when you surround them with so many cool details and great bodywork. Now....it's just a matter of a certain '73 Camaro, ha, ha!!!

Cris@JCG 08-17-2011 08:07 AM

Just look @ it this way Matt.. All the cool details that we are doing for this 68.. Some will be carried into your 73.. Some of those machined pcs have already been fitted to your car..

Thanks again Matt!

Amazing build!

"attention defecate disorder" -Tonner.... haha, I believe you meant deficit. That is one hilarious typo though.

Cris, is the water jet cutting done in house? Have you worked on any Cuda's? Want to?

David

redfire69 08-17-2011 12:39 PM

Looks good Cris! Is that the 100% CF version of the hood that has the understructure in carbon fiber as well?

MarkM66 08-17-2011 01:09 PM

Grill looks great.

Are you putting turn signals in the headlights? What headlights do you plan on using?

Cris@JCG 08-17-2011 01:20 PM

Thank you! The signal lights will be in the headlights... Don't know yet which ones we are using.. but I know they are out their..

That is correct 100% CF on the hood... I even mocked up a dry carbon one yesterday with cowl induction.. but went with the flat hood..

David- Funny you should ask on a Cuda! I have just scheduled my first Mopar to come in mid Oct.. The punch list will was given to me yesterday.. Can't wait to get started on it.. Designing & fabricating for two Cuda's justify's my cost to design & machine.. Be more than happy to find space for another one.. :D

I have two sources that I use for water jet cutting.. My uncle retired last year & we are looking @ buying a CNC plasma to make some parts in house.. critical parts will still go out water jet..

seen this car in person yesterday.... really dig all the machined billet pieces, the attention to detail as i watched chris and his guys gap the hood, cowl, and nose along with the mods required to ensure they all line up after being gaped....

DRJDVM's '69 08-17-2011 04:08 PM

The Cuda that Cris is referring to is mine!! We've been emailing back and forth the last couple of days and if it all works out I'm taking the car down there in mid-Oct

I was extremely happy with all the work Tim Bruning did on my car but he's just got too much on his plate with working at SAR, side projects, his own projects and family. Getting my car back into his shop and having it make reasonable progress just wasn't going to happen. No hard feelings on my part or his.... Just wasn't going to happen

One of the reasons I wanted to work with Cris is his ability and desire to design and prototype new parts.... The mopar market is small so we don't have a ton of companies coming out with new stuff. It would be awesome to get some new stuff.... Billet hood hinges spring to mind

So let's send him some more mopars!!!!

I am sure we will do a few custom pcs for you.. Thank you for the confidence on working on your Cuda..

A removable horizontal frame brace with an intake pass-through.

carbuff 08-18-2011 02:06 PM

Is that a cross-bar support which will go between the down bars with an opening for an LS air intake? (I have no idea what the real name for that item would be. :) ) If so, interesting..

Cris@JCG 08-18-2011 02:19 PM

You guys hitted on the nail!

Im a newbie here and I just spent the last 2 hours following this build thread. I could say things like- WOW!, Great Work! Super Skills, ect, but it wouldnt even begin to describe level of imagination and just raw passion of talent that this car has asorbed into its new soul.

Im just one of those car hobbist that enjoys restoring old pieces of crap in his little 2 car garage. I love doing this kind of work and I can do just about anything I want to try. But no where the level of this kind of work. I can beat on a old fender for hours and in the it might look ok, but the work I see being done on this car.... its almost like this car is becomeing something more than a very well built car. Its becoming a piece of ART. The artist creating this masterpiece is producing something so visuial that it will release Endorphins racing out of your pituitary gland and you will be forced to study every inch of the car for hours. This car is the Mona Lisa for the car enthusiasts....

Well thats my opinon.....

Track Junky 08-22-2011 09:28 PM

You guy's are out of control!! Your attention to detail is impecable!!

dunnjun 08-23-2011 10:26 AM

Every great artist has to sign his work:thumbsup: Definitely no unused space under that hood. I can't wait to see it finished! Great job!

Cris@JCG 08-23-2011 12:39 PM

Thank you.. Me & my crew are doing our best to keep with other car builders.. As you explore thru Lat-G.. You will find other shops or home builders that are doing phenomenal work thru out the country..

Nice Car,

sik68 08-30-2011 03:11 PM

Killer build! The level of fabrication is unreal. :faint:

Are you using ABS? I think Stielow said something in the past about carbon brakes without ABS...that it can lead to spontaneous brake lock-up. :curious:

Cris@JCG 08-30-2011 04:19 PM

Thanks!

Nice Car,

Their is plans for ABS in the future.. but @ this time we will run it without..

Wilwood has their own formula of carbon ceramic rotors.. they don't have to run carbon cermaic brake pads.. They can run different pads compounds that can provide differnt co-officent of friction.. They have been in testing now for about a year on a 25'000 lbs military H1 or 2..

The owner has been asking me.. When the hell you gonna paint the damm car! It is a "Race Car"... It doesn't need to be perfect... My answer.. is the car will only be as perfect as I can get it only once in its life time.. After that you can thrash on it all you want.. I gotta thank the owner for letting me go above & beyond from what the project started as..

The car will be painted late next week.. My crew has been on 12 hr shifts & have agreed to come in & work this Labor Day weekend.. will be BBQ for them all weekend!!

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1480.jpg

It has been a pain in the ass to get the grill to fit the I want it cause of all the components not fitting that great.. then I remembered that it didn't even fit this nice from the factory.. We had to cut & splice the head light buckets for the headlights to fit centered on the trim.. I got the headlights from Headwinds.. Thanks Eric!

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1483.jpg

The WidowMaker 08-31-2011 08:14 PM

jeez thats amazing!!! cant wait to see some paint on it.

70rs 08-31-2011 08:59 PM

I'm glad they worked out for this project. I will use the same set up on mine.

Cris@JCG 09-07-2011 09:23 PM

C6 Hubs

The one thing that has always driven me nuts is when you have metric studs on the front with the C6 hubs & 1/2-20 studs on the rear for 9 inch Ford.. Sent these out to the machine shop to re-drill for srcew in studs.. Now I can run 3 inch studs on all four corners with Trans Am open lug nuts..

Concentric within .001 & we build a fixture for us to convert the rest of them here @ the shop..
