I'll have nightmares tonight with the typical "okay that was just weird" kind of thoughts -- like why are Charley and I sitting in wheelbarrows... and who are those chicks that showed up in matching chiffon dresses... and why is my wheelbarrow gold plated? WTF.... it's going to be a long night.

If you bring your chair to a car show anywhere near Southern California, I might do something really unfair and steal it to make a recessed firewall on my car :_paranoid

Those are way too far from the grilling surface to be cooked correctly...

Umm there is something wrong with those sausage holders. Looks like 4 dudes.
I'll stick to the burgers.

GregWeld 04-26-2012 06:16 AM

Bob --- My thoughts on that wiener holder EXACTLY.... It's just "wrong".

Jerry --- Nice rig! Yes - similar.... That rig has an "assembled" awning which covers more area... Where the Girard awnings are pushbutton and out they go. I'm hoping they're adequate. I don't really care if the car sits in the sun a bit. As long as Gwen and Charley are happy... and they (the awnings) block the sun from fading out the TV.:D

I did eliminate the A/C and heat in the stacker.... which also meant I could kill the 12kw generator. I hope that wasn't a mistake. I just didn't see myself hanging around inside the trailer... and it can be plugged into the toter for power so I can run fans etc.

After serious deliberations Track Junky & Sieg are leaning to this faster transporter color scheme.

GregWeld 05-02-2012 08:24 PM

My wonderful wife just had to trip to Northern California and back -- where every 5 miles I brought up "what we'd be doing if we were in the toter!"..... as in - "if we were in the toter we could pull over right here and have lunch" - or "if we were in the toter I could pull in here and use MY OWN BATHROOM".... it got to be a joke after 1000 miles...

When we left Thunderhill we took the scenic route out of Williams... on Hwy 20 over to 101 then south to St Helena (Napa valley)..... on the way home we back tracked -- and noticed a big sign -- "NO TRUCKS OVER 65 FEET".... DANG NAB IT! I love back roads and hate the interstate drone.... so was really bummed to see that sign!

Once on the road I found out why --- narrow and super twisty.... fantastic driving, but not in the toter!

Blake Foster 05-03-2012 08:33 AM

Honestly how much can the fine be for an extra 10 feet????
just fold the 20.00's and pass them out the window with your license. lol

EH?!?! That'll get you 'rested down here!

I did have to go to Art Morrisons today to get the housing for Rudy's Pro Street er.... and decided I'd stop by Freightliner. They had a Cascadia out front - unlocked - so I jumped up in there. Dude! I felt like a freshman in high school. That thing is BIG! Kool! But BIG!

I found out they offer EIGHT THOUSAND OPTIONS when ordering a big truck! My order for the truck only - was 14 pages worth of "stuff". A lot of which is just choosing this or that... but I had no idea there would be 8,000 choices! Most of which I had no idea what any of it even was! There has to be 100 front axle choices... a gazillion more rear choices... all kinds of different air options etc. I'm going to have to hang out with some trucker dudes to figure out what I have!

Vegas69 05-03-2012 09:33 PM

Just be careful.

GregWeld 05-03-2012 09:39 PM

TOE TAPPERS!!!!

GregWeld 05-08-2012 10:03 AM

So my wife has now "re-thought" how many of these "events" she'd like to travel to.... So I put the order in cancel mode. Having them hold my deposit.. because if this is the case I'm going to drop down to a "car guy type" living quarters and maybe just a two car hauler.

Thinking about how it's used has been a major dilemma for me anyway. I've been wrestling with this for 4 or 5 years now!

The part I like the best about car stuff -- is the people. I like running to shows etc with my other buddies. Sometimes there's 3 or 4 trailers heading out. With the GIANT rig - this would severely restrict where and I could travel and going from Willams to St Helena was a major test of what and where I could go. I want to be able to go freely... WITHOUT hassle. 75' of truck and trailer would ADD hassle not eliminate it.

SO HERE'S THE 63 DOLLAR QUESTION:

If you could -- would you

Go with a "sport truck" 4 door M2 style chassis and living quarter w/ 2 car stacker gooseneck trailer?

Or

Smaller toter home (17') with 2 car stacker gooseneck trailer?

Sieg 05-08-2012 10:40 AM

Which platform will give you adequate horsepower and space?

Which will deliver acceptable mobility?

What platform will be most desirable when it comes time to sell?

Would this get the job done?
http://renegaderv.com/sites/default/..._trailer_0.jpg

or this?
http://renegaderv.com/sites/default/...k-exterior.jpg

Charlie would you buy either for 10 cents on the dollar?

Track Junky 05-08-2012 12:13 PM

I'd have to see pic's of the options before answering. But being as frugal minded as I am I would go with a trailor that has the living quarters incorporated and by a crew cab dually to tow with.

Blake Foster 05-08-2012 12:38 PM

have you considered a motorhome with a 24-26 foot 2 car stacker???
that way the length is not outragious and the living quarters are super nice, even if you a wifie want to go away with out the cars???
the qestion i struggle with in my descission making is what ti the MOST important hauling cars or comfort on the road??
do i buy a Ironworks setup to move all the cars and display stuff i can find pay a ton of extra fees costs regulations, and have to stay in hotels everynight. or get a big toter and smaller trailer (that can take the majority of what we need) and be comfortable on the road, pull into rest areas or Walmart and set up camp instead of trying to find a hotel at 11 pm that i can park the rig at???
for you i could see the motor home (big diesel pusher ) and a small 2 car stacker trailer being a great option.
