So time for a long overdue update. Two days after I got the car home I had knee surgery. Sat on my a** for two weeks went back to the doc for a follow up and was told it needed a redo. WTF/whatever, it'll be fine when it's all healed up. Had it redone. I did try to use the time wisely planning and spending $$$ on parts. Sat on my duff for another two weeks till I couldn't stand it any more, so I had a buddy come over yesterday and we got the ZR1 hubs, wheels and front brakes on the car. I chased threads, barked out orders (nicely) and he was my legs while I sat in the rolling shop chair. http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2297.jpg http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2298.jpg http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2304.jpg http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2301.jpg http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2300.jpg http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2308.jpg Really happy with the theme. The look of the black centered wheels/polished hoops really chages the car as I thought it would (+1 for the render). I also think the meats fill up the rear nicely. Can't focus on stance till I get some fab done and more weight in the car. I'm a week or two from getting it down to Cris and I'll get some more updates once he gets rollin'. Parts have been coming in and the motor build is almost done so I'll update that soon as well. Thx for the emails and PMs while I've been gimping it a home... |
Ha, and just about when I was gonna ask what's up with this car... :D
Looks sweet Ron. Godpseed with your knee buddy. |
Looking really good. I understand what you mean about sitting on your @$$ for weeks. I had surgery for hernias in july and just returned to work. Sucks not having your normal life and so frustrating not being able to work on what you love most. Hopefully the new wheels will help eas the boringness and frustration.

Couple of things I wanted to bring up......first off, smart move on rolling lips before paint. Secondly, the race hubs are a great Idea. Different animal here (stock subframe)but the front Z06 wheels I picked up needed 2" spacers to fit correctly which make the wheel originally a 7.5" backspace. I had my first test and tune at Thunderhill a couple of weeks ago and really noticed how much harder my front end was working. I think the 2" spacer incorporated with the hubmounting location of the Z06 wheels were putting alot of pressure on my hub, bearing and spindle due to bringing the load bearing point further away from the original mounting point. I think what I'm really trying to say is, good job on the building execution of your car. If you plan on running your car hard, incorporate the components that are meant for that sort of work and thats exactly what you are doing. After picking up my new lower control arms I chopped another inch off my coil springs. Floor to fender lip is 23" now. (Just a little stance hint, I'll send you a pic to give you an idea). Car is looking sweet, keep plugging away brother......she'll be on the road never soon enough but soon. |
Looks awesome Ron, well done.
