Wish I had the $$ to spend on a watch like that! I sport a Suunto Core and it's $200.00 price tag was high in my book. I'm kinda hard on watches. |

Ummmmm yeah...NO!! If I see Curtis "sporting a Breitling".....then that means I'm going to be Suzy Freaking Homemaker from here on out. I love you Curtis.....but let's just keep it to the car. My heart (and sanity level) can only handle so much right now. :topic: Ok, now back to this Nickelback....... |
Add some NACA ducts just ahead of the exhaust and as you move forward the air will flow. The bottom of the Lotus is just flat panels and the ducts are plastic - but it's this SHAPE - done in metal -- would like good and be effective.

I'll trade you all my Rolex's for Laurie! Although I think she might have a bit to say about that... but you can't say I didn't TRY! LOL |
Latest and greatest......Been working on all of the little details underneath that take so much time. I finished up E-Brake set up. I like using Control Cables Inc. products. Their products are second to none and great people to work with. I used their late model style push on - push off pedal assembly. All of the cables, clamps etc. are done. Mounted the fuel regulator & filter. Mapped out all of the fuel & brake plumbing. I drew it all out on the frame with a good ole' sharpie. Took notes and made a list of what to order. Once the body comes off the frame in a few weeks I will do all of the bending and fitment knowing nothing will interfere. I fit the rear brakes, wheels and tires. Made sure everything cleared so no hidden surprises during final assembly. I'm using iForged wheels. 20X11 in the rear with a 315/35-20. With that said I can officially say that the rear half of the car is 100% complete. Onto the inside this week for console & dash work. Here are a few pics...
http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...Caliper-1.jpeg Here are the wheels. I did them in full polished finish for now. Once I finalize the colors on the car, I will determine the color of the wheel centers. http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...55/Wheel1.jpeg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t55/Pass3.jpeg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...55/Driver.jpeg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t55/Pass2.jpeg |

Not even tempting. She helped me reinstall the hood on the 67 yesterday. So fun to watch her turn wrenches. Looking forward to her helping install the engine. :whistling: |

I need to get better on updating my thread. One would think being a Mod and always here it would come natural! Go figure... Anyways I'm still plugging away. I have been working on the bumper fitment, rear exhaust area, radiator hoses, dash, console and other things . I had Sherm's Chrome rough the bumpers in for me. These started out as 3 piece bumpers that have been welded together as 1 piece smoothies. Of course nipped and tucked for a nicer fit. Took a lot of work to get them to fit like this but well worth it. I really wanted the lines of the front bumper to match up with the fender lines as they swoop down. I ended up raising the bumper 1/2" to clear the front apron and moved back over an 1" to make this happen. Kind of needed the extra ground clearance anyways with as low as it is. Well here are the final pics...
I made the side mounting brackets with 3/4" round tubing with right & left hand rod ends. Makes it real easy to set perfect gaps. Ignore the extra stud on the bumper. That will not be used and taken off before chroming. |
Nice work Brent! I really like the adjustment you built in. Very clever.

Here are some pics of the rear bumper fitment.

Brent when you guys do a bumper like that, is that the finish you send it to be chromed and they finish it or do you get it as close as you can then send it for them to finish? Nice job !

Digging the rear bumper
Takes a lot of work

Very nice work. I am along for the ride. I have a 55 wagon project rattling around.

Love the update Brent and remember we need more pictures because :ttiwop:

With the rear bumper in place I was able to finish the turndowns for exhaust. Excuse the rusty looking panels! How embarrassing  I guess I should have did a little scotchbrite work before the photo session!

Made some more progress this past week. I was able to get the radiator hoses done. Did them in hard stainless. It's a double pass radiator so both inlet & outlet are on the driver side. The rubber ends will be shortend up quite a bit. Just need to make a trip over to Alex @ Big Head Motorsports to be welded up. I'll be welding some tabs to attach the lower hose to the bar in front front of it. I also still need to cut off the original style core support mount. This was the last of fab work before teardown. http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...pperhose_1.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...rRadHose_1.jpg |
Very Nice!

Saturday was a big day....Separated after 10 years of being together! My sons who are 9 & 7 were like "Dad I thought you were getting closer to being done. Why are you taking apart?" I had to tell them - believe it or not we are going in the right direction..... I enjoy seeing this thing outside and seeing the stance. This is final ride height and fully functional with out bags.
Before http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...55/Before.jpeg After.... http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Chassis2.jpeg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Chassis1.jpeg Now it's time for the dirty work. I've been doing all of the fab work from the top for the most part, So now it's time to do all of the finish work underneath. Lots of cutting, grinding & welding ahead in my future! Now that it's apart I will also be doing all of the plumbing for brakes, fuel etc. Once done it will go back together for one final time for final body work. |
