ironworks 09-12-2007 11:52 AM

I will have to talk to John, we might post some pics here pretty quick. It is coming along nicely. Things have been super busy at the shop lately with all the new projects starting and the downward slide of the truck.

You alabama boys need to come to the reunion next month, I have lodging covered if you get here. Ask neil about his trip to Black Angus last year, it was very funny. At least for us californians.

Holy cow...what a cool build! Took me almost an hour to go through the whole post...but it was definitely worth it

I had relatives that lived in the Shafter/Wasco area. Lots of open space to go fast out there :unibrow:

I, too, can't wait to see some more updated photos of this build:cheers:

Just a few quick pics of the progress we're making! We're mostly just finish welding the chassis so we can get it ready for the powdercoater! These are pics of the tunnel side braces!

I noticed the picture on the last page of PHR October . Is the cat out of the bag? Is this a rendering of your car. It does fit with the Rodger orange peel color idea.

I asked it on another forum, but this one seems to get more traffic, how do you plan on attaching the floor sheet metal to the frame? Will it be welded on before poweder? Or is it going to sit on top or underneath the frame tubes?

Thanks

The floor panels will be welded on prior to powdercoat then, once it comes back, each section will be filled to prevent drumming and a floor will be laid on top of that!

Ironworks Big Boss

I'm sure Rodger will set up some licensing agreement in order to share his knowledge....

If you don't mind me asking, what will you be filling it with? Some type of foam?

ironworks 09-26-2007 11:23 AM

balsa wood

novanutcase 09-26-2007 11:39 PM

Dropped her down to ride height(4.5 at the cowl!) to make sure wheel clearance is OK! Rodger wanted to see what it would look like with big rotors so he stuck his truck rotor on the back wheel!

This is how we decided to finish the diff cage! I couldn't bear to cover up the beautiful tube work so we're just going to leave her as is! Just got to finish off the corners!

Sub floor is all tacked in!

John... have you and Roger thought about a throttle pedal yet ?
That looks pretty tight.
We had a similar problem when I slammed the Impala. The tunnel became so wide that it limited the room for a pedal. I bent the stock assembly bracket and fab'd up an 's' shaped arm. Works but is still kinda tight. Yours looks even tighter.

Payton King 09-27-2007 06:46 AM

I have said you car is so cool so many times

it is like playing golf with my friend with a 0 handicap....you get tired of saying great shot. LOL

I love the big rotor look on the rear.

HWY Nova 09-27-2007 08:46 AM

Throttle Pedal

Rumor has it that John has little feet, but he has a big....... wallet.

floor

what thickness is the sheetmetal inside the car?

ironworks 09-27-2007 09:21 AM

Actually the gas pedal is going to be designed by a aerospece engineer. Haha

Really it is....

Last I heard the rocket scientist was working on the brake pedals also. But the gas pedal actually has lots of room since it will be a hanging pedal. I may not be able to fit my size 15 in the with room to spare. But John had foot enhancement by the doctor of the stars Dr 90210 so he has perfect feet,,,,Now. He does not need those cute driving booties, that I have.
