The tires look good back there.
|
Now your cooking! Man I'm glad you didn't get rid of this car!
|
Looking good! Race boat? 2nd Race boat? I've been too busy watching it rain all spring to get my boat out!
|
Holy cow I can't believe what i've missed in the last 3 weeks.

I am slowly whittling away at this in the dirty section of the shop... more primer, gray boogers and sanding ahead of me.
|
Keep pecking away at it , it's looking good.

We started mocking up the front clip. I am surprised how wavy the anvil carbon fiber it. Lots of sanding to get it to lay down.

Thoughts on the wheels?

Nice work on the quarters John
I agree with Marty, I like the wheels and the red will be awesome. |
Fighting all the little stuff, like lines etc.
At the point now where I can start painting door jambs and the like. The funny thing, I could mix up something custom, but based on the use this car will see, I want to be able to do touch ups and repairs. Closest red I could find is an Aston Martin color, 2015 Volcano Red. Putting this paint code out there to remember it. AST5151D |

I'm a huge fan of Red and I guess I need to stop at the dealer and look at that red. |
We're following your diamond T build thread on pirate, too, and MAN you're doing quality work. Don't know how you juggle that many builds, but its seriously impressive!

What really sucks is when your car's in Paint Prison and you're the Warden/Jailer.
We spent a lot of time priming, sanding and priming... Everything is ready for paint and it's time to pull this out of the messy area of my shop. (I have a much cleaner area and a down draft, heated (for baking) paint booth). Should be painting the interior semi gloss black in the next two days, along with the fiber glass kick panels and rear deck lid. I mixed up the red today, not sure I like it yet. My rollers in the rear are from a GranSport Corvette (old take offs.) I think they fit pretty nicely at ride height and have 2.75" of up travel, with the shock set for 2.7" of up. Not that shabby. |
BTW, can anyone tell what size billet door jamb vents I need? I also wonder if I can get billet trunk hinges.
|
Like the wheel design you've chosen. Are they going to be gray centers?
|
Fesler has nice trunk hinges.

Atleast you don't have to wait for updates ! Lookin good! |
Looking good John!! I have the Fesler trunk hinges for my 70. Very nice.
My 70 is in paint jail too. I don't have the control that you do but the shop is only 2 miles from mine. Very handy! |
I guess I need to get some black fesler trunk hinges going. How do they install? Do I need to keep the filler panel off, to access the old hinges?
I have a fair bit of their stuff. |

You do need the filler off to get the old hinges and torsion rods out of there. I also trimmed the back edges of the hinge brackets to clean them up a bit after the old hinges were out. |
Thanks guys.
This project just took another turn. I don't like the red. Can't find one I like. It's going deep, abyssal black, like my GMC. |
Lets talk about that Cigarette in the back ground. Is that a 38?

In my opinion a good move. I don't like red on anything except an exotic. But we all know about opinions... Deep black, oh yeah!! |

So I got some paint on it...
May actually need a name for this. |
Wow that paint looks slick! Nice job!
|
I am not sure what the squiggles are on the passenger side... they're not there on car.
|
Wow ... that looks great! The car has come long way great perseverance!

Thanks guys... cutting the hood and nose pieces.
Finally getting the engine and trans together this week, to stab it in for the first/last time, I hope. Have a bunch of work to do Saturday and Sunday on this. I also got to organize the trailer that most of the parts have been stored in. The body should be together this time next week, with the all the hard parts bolted in... then we start plumbing and wiring. BTW, we wet sand from 400 grit all the way to brown paper bag, in between every coat of paint or clear. Then buff the living heck out of it. 5 coats of color, 5 coats of clear. Paper thin paint. Black in depth, is not easy. I also ordered an adjustable rear sway bar for this. Anyone want a DSE 5th gen Camaro rear sway bar? |

So, a bit of thrashing from 8am to 1pm today.
Motor and trans is in. Have to cut the shifter opening back 2.5". Got the gas tank in, headers on, started lining stuff up. Thinking I need an electric brake booster... can't find the hydro one I had and not a fan of more hydraulic hoses. Would have had the full coated exhaust on, but the rear sway bar needs a narrower torsion rod. |
Looks like you will make cruisin downtown Manchester this year... Can't wait to see it in person
|
You made some nice progress today. Glad to see it moving so fast.
