Guest house? Separate garage/shop for visiting drive thru's? Wait that means I have to have a running car to participate, hell you'll probably be planning another move by the time I'm finished. Sounds like a pretty cool place Greg, looking forward to following the build. What style of home are you looking at building on top of the shop, contemporary/modern/colonial???
You know I want one!

The style is called Sun Valley lodge....

Not sure exactly what that means - but it's a legitimate description over here.

Get that POS running and get over here.

Man Greg I love the new area!!! Nice idea on putting the shop under the house, when my dad built his back in the late 70's he did the same thing, not size but half the lower house was all shop.

What a beautiful view.

We are going to build our next house, my wife's grandparents have 3 acres two blocks from us. The house is over 200 years old up on a hill, that's where we plan to build and stay. Oh and her parents have their house right next door :lostmarbles: but their nice so it's good.

Oh we will need a build thread on the new house!!! :warning:

Thanks Rick!

I can't seem to capture the view with my limited camera skills... and some of the pics are from my iPhone... Photobucket seems to mangle the iPhone "panorama" shots... The view is 180* out the front of the house if you just stare straight ahead.... then there's a whole different view to the Southwest. And another west looking at Proctor Mountain. We're almost at the top of a ridge... and the view will change with the elevation of the house as it goes up from ground level.

RE: In laws

We have purposely built some areas of the house HOPING that my MIL will be able to come and stay for awhile. Some of us actually love our in laws. I've known my MIL since I was 15 years old.... imagine that... since I'm 60 next month.

I'm real easy, just get me a sleeping bag and I'll sleep out in the shop. Im sure the shop area will be nicer than some homes.

I've had GIRLS make the same offer.... They're no good -- but they're easy.

Any thought to putting a receiver hitch on the front of the truck to push the trailer in the garage? My Grandpa use to do this to launch a boat with his truck camper. It makes for great visability and a very manuverable setup. Just an idea.
