I've been pulling my trailers with a gasser for a long time, it works fine Greg.
What's funny though is Greg downsizing his travel rig while I'm upsizing mine...just brought this setup home today to how it all tows with a little weight rearranging. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psmvd44lsu.jpg Is it race season yet? |
Good looking unit you have there congratulations on the purchase

Brought some art home from the shop - thought I'd see how this pulled and if I could turn it around in the turnaround.... NO PROBLEMO! LOL
It will need a load distributing hitch! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...C_4937%201.jpg The interior is all decked out in this version. The Intech quality is fantastic! Amazing attention to miters and fit and finish. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC_4936.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC_4932.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC_4931.jpg |
I got a new enclosed today but it is no where near as nice as that. You might rethink that have ton after I send you pics of what happened to a friend on mine yesterday with his half ton, and a borrowed enclosed.

That does look nice inside Greg. Where does the winch go?

I think it weighs right at 4600#'s --- so with a 3000# Mustang and a few misc tools etc - it'll be under 9000# |

SWEET LANCE!!! The original thought was that GWEN would go on these trips with me. She's not the least bit interested, mainly because Lillard is there.... LOL The Mustang has become super reliable -- which was the other reason for the "rig" - so I could haul two track cars.... but frankly - since Sutton got the Mustang squared away - I'm not interested in driving the Lotus - even though the Lotus 2 11 is faster! So why haul it to the track - pay entry fees for it - and there it sits... Only time it gets driven is if Sieg comes down. Well - WTF - I'm not all that interested in supplying a car for someone else to drive - while I maintain it - pay the entry and haul it around... although I always liked Sieg as a team mate. The new 6.2 is 420 HP and 460 TQ.... that's way more than my parents old big block Ford 3/4 ton gas - and we had a big camper on that. People always had gas motors. Diesels are 'relatively' new. I just didn't want the crappy ride of the bigger trucks for the 3 times a year I tow something. We'll see how this goes - if it sucks - I'll trade it in and buy a diesel 2500. |
I don't think you need a diesel if you're only going to tow a few times a year but the 2500 has bigger brakes, E load tires, and suspension better equipped for hauling big trailers. I've probably put 100K miles on my trailer and even with a 2500 it can get sketchy when there's a fair amount of wind. Unless GM has improved the brakes drastically on the 1500's they suck and can barely stop the truck in a panic situation.

:popcorn2: Does anyone have Gwen's email address... :D We'll see how Mrs SSLance likes going to events with me this year. With both of our schedules being a lot more flexible, and with a place to comfortably stay...the idea is for her and the dogs to travel with me. It worked pretty well at the Optima event at NCM last year. I just need to make sure to do a few family type things on the way to and fro to even out the time. Being camped in the pits is so much nicer and easier than shuffling back and forth to motels each night. And AC with a fresh sammich and a cold beverage in between runs ain't so shabby either. Are you going to put an AC unit on the roof of your new trailer? Where is the generator compartment and how big of a Genset are you going to install? Room for a decent size Air Compressor as well? |
