Rodney Dangerfield curse,

OK so it's been tough getting to work on the car for quit a while ( Need new hip). So I caved and looked for someone to get under the dash and take care of the wiring for me. As expected it's a long waiting list to get in. Then I talked to a guy and he had just finished a job and could take it as soon as I could get it there. BUT lots to still get done, steering column, finish brakes, fuel line and other small stuff. My son in law came home from work and came right over ( my daughter got lucky with this guy! ) stayed till 11-12 and got up to go to work. So we were set to send the car today at 8 AM , but of course Rodney snuck up and bit me in the BUTT! Last nights snow storm stopped that in it's tracks. There are no windows in or hood on it. I just couldn't see it going with all that salt, so it's now a Monday 8 AM pick up. The Rodney part is no snow for two months and it happens when I need it not to snow.
OK enough crying.
Here are the first pictures of the car on it's Temporary wheels in at least 4 years and with the drive train in it.

Looking good, Wayne. I like your choice of rims. Good luck with the car and your hip.

Thanks guys, I sent the car out to do some wiring on it.

Here are some pictures of it on the road, well above the road really.
I hoped the first time out the tires would be on the ground!

Up Up and away!

And delivered safely!

Now to finish the wiring in the garage, insulate, and maybe sheet rock.

Man I wish GM hadn't taken so much out of the ECU on the connect and cruise package. No PWM for the fans ( there is a patch for that ) now it's no signal to show current gear to the dash. I should have gotten a ZR1 ECU and had stuff removed. It's been $100 here and 150 there to get the RTX dash to show what I want.
I wish I would have known, Meaning the GM ECM not the dash.

I think the issue is that Series of ECU was used with the 6L80E which has an internal TCM which communicated the gear directly to the BCM. The ECM had no need to send the gear info anywhere. They didn’t take it out, it was never there.

What problems are you having with the RTX guages displaying?

waynieZ 03-14-2020 07:51 PM

It's what Don was saying in the post before you, it's nothing with the RTX dash it's that the ECM doesn't use the signal needed to show the gear selected. They have a box to show gear selected you just need to use this box
Dakota Digital GSS-3000 Universal Sender Unit for Gear Shift Position Indicator
Then it will show on the dash.

I've got a small update on the car. The car is out getting wiring and the A/C installed. The wiring for the tail light section ha been neatened up, No picture of that. The A/C has been mocked up and some of the hoses for the heat have been changed to the -10 AN and run to the heat control valve. I needed a lot on different A/C fittings because of all the changes with inter cooler and pumps. But it's just wait for the fittings to be delivered.

Here's the challenges you run into when you run out of room. That RS headlight door has stung me a few time./

There was more progress. I'm running a Dakota Digital RTX gauge set up with a DD cruise control, fan controller, BIM box and because it is a connect and cruise kit the gear Shift indicator sensor.

Here's the plate they're going on

The trans was tight for connecting the controller wiring, the connector was too close to the floor. Brian dropped the spacer I had to get my drive train angle and took about 1/2" off the spacer and now the plug fits by 1/4". He tigged it back together and painted it up, and now were done with that.
