Street driving days will draw to a close as we update the bar and change out the suspension. Might be driving to the occasional car show but not going out playing much.

Lots of suspension work needed.

Just don't end up like that Leux ISF that took flight and started gliding down the track!

Amen

Love the build. And those frame by frame pictures are awesome. 150+mph is no joke.

Thanks David, we've stepped back to work on the suspension and look over the safety issues. At a minimum we will be upgrading to a cage. We've already done some revisions to the suspension. One thing I have noticed looking over the videos, one run netted a 1.55 60'. The car lurched right, out of the groove when the boost came on, a little over 1 second into the run. Reviewing the film, I believe the front wheels came off the ground as the car pushed right. On the 9.2 pass the car was clearly lifting as it passed the 330 foot mark and you can see it squatting well past the 1/8 mile. It is in short, a beast. Here are the vids of the busted pass. I have no really passion about whether the wheels lifted or not, just an observation. I based it on the frame by frame where there first is a shadow from the wheel, then there isn't, then there is.

Man, when you said that there was a lot of suspension modifications needed, I was hoping for front and rear short/long arm, true coilover, high travel/low roll, 315's all around road racing suspension.
So is this beast going to be a drag queen only? You know that you can set it up for road racing and it can still drive straight, too, right? I'm impressed, either way. That car is a freaking machine. |
Thanks, I have a cousin that used to road race factory cars for BMW. Right now he is a HPDE instructor. He put a proud picture of himself and his beautiful new TT Porsche 964 up on facebook. I asked him why would anyone try to turn a car going fast :) He seemed upset with me. I must admit there may be a 4L80 and 3.08 rear gear with an appropriate converter in the car's future for a mile and/or half mile pass, just to try to get in the 200 mph club. I say drag queen only but I do drive around on the streets quite a bit and am not shy about not letting someone cut me off at the on ramp to the freeway, ;)
My only real concern is whether the solid aluminum bushings will make the car unstreetable/unforgiving on rough roads. For now, if you pull up by a QSM 04 GTO in Texas, you still prolly need to wonder if it is Ethyl :) We are working on a stock 04 hood. I have to confess 315s all around and an open track day at the Texas Motor Speedway would be a hoot. |
