I can't wait to check out Ben's designs.
I don't think he's showing his full hand yet. Wish I was going to PRI.:( http://www.gripequipped.com  |

Just looked on their site for them (door panels), are they making them now? Thanks, Joe |

I like them  I'm thinking the stock silver centers or similar may compliment the chrome trim? |
Those wheels look perfect.

It's amazing what a great set of INTROS can do for a build!

I dig those wheels!!!
Question for you...does anybody make the 'talladega' front end for these cars? Or is that just a holy grail? |

I like those new rims, Rob. I'd stay with a dark shade on them though to match the darker paint scheme.

I guess I'm going to be the one in the minority, but I'm not sold on those wheels for your car. They're a stunning design with a lot of thought and just as much fancy machine work to make all of the rounded shapes. I know the new Grip Equiped line seeks to blend elements of contemporary and vintage design, and that wheel is exactly that. However, for that reason I see it being much more at home on a retro styled late model car, like Karl's Parnelli Jones 302, or something with crazy modifications in the same vein as the Goolsby Mustang or Roadster Shop 'Vette, or a car that seeks more modern influence. I've always thought of your car being as being old school and devoid of attention getting billet in favor of some vintage stock car feel.
Ah hell, what do I know. Besides, it is your car! |

I saw these billet cup style wheels at SEMA. These were 18s but maybe they would do a 19 for my rear. They would fit the bill for sure. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...gas-nascar.jpg |
I hear what Matt is saying and I can appreciate his point but I disagree. I hate retro wheels on modern cars. Haven't seen one yet that I think "works".
On the other hand, I think the wheel does a nice job of balance old vs new for Rob's "old and new" car... old motor and new chassis (even though most will not know it's there). Altho that Nascar wheel is just too bad ass. There.... my worthless opinion is done. |
I SAY Silver Centers! :D

I drive past a Mini dealership everyday, and this is what I was thinking of when I made the last post about the thinking that the wheels might be too contemporary-retro for the rest of your car. If my brain hadn't already made this association, I would probably be all over them, especially in black. The more I look at the black spokes with machined highlights, the more I'm starting to like the look of those Laguna wheels on the Torino. I'm still going to tell you that you have badass looking Mini Cooper wheels though. I can't unsee that association. *edit* the more I see those wheels, the more I like them. I might have to get a set of mini look a likes for my fastback! |

The build doesn't have a name it's just a Torino. When it's finished it will have the factory Cobra badging without Torino badges like a Fairlane Cobra. It left the assembly line as a Torino so that's what it is. Like I said it doesn't have a name. Now back to the thread name, if you think a Ford guy came up with the thread name change you're wrong. :unibrow: |

^^^^^^ I like where this thread is going
Has it always said 1969 Forino & Is it done yet?? |
So much more fun than just building silly cars...
I'm with Matt Man --- I like the wheels with the machined face on the spokes... but since it's a FORD and only has one color choice - then maybe the machined faces could be MATT black and the rest could be Henry Ford shiny black? Sometimes I even surprise myself! |

No it hasn't. You need to keep an eye on those Mods. It's not even as close to being finished as Ron's :willy: I'll probably only get it on the road a few weeks before Dead Poo  Quote:
