Looking good; I was just reading about your ride in Popular Hot Rodding:thumbsup:

I was just wondering if there was another reason (besides cost) that an iron block was used (considering all the carbon fiber parts are achieving the same result---high cost, but lower weight)....
Matt at Anvil does very nice work... |
The car is looking great. Keep at it guys, almost there!
|
An aluminum block never came up when talking with KRE & TIP... they wanted to do something different and came up with the 440 with everything but the block being from the aftermarket... I think it's a killer engine combination and as well as everyone else who has been involved with the project, I'm thankful for their continued support of this build!!
Many parts were donated and many more were purchased thru discounts from the vendors who wanted to support the build. For that and for their involvement, generosity and support, I am truly thankful!! But, even with all the parts that were donated and discounted that doesn't mean that these builds are free and you simply have to draw the line somewhere. Through it all, I've met some really great folks/friends... my hope is that all their generosity and support is repaid ten fold!! :lateral: V/R, Ty |
I can't wait to see it painted! Is it friday yet?
I hear ya Ty, with builds like this there are many to thank! Props to all involved!! |
Ty and Tony, you have PM's. Ty, best of luck to you on your project.
|
How are things coming along? Any new pictures for us to see?
|
We're plugging along!! I've had to bring in a few people from a local bodyshop to help out and get this thing ready for paint on Friday!! WE are a little behind where I would like to be for paint... Still got to bodywork the driver's door and front fender. Then prime and wetsand entire car again!!! There's just not enough hours in the day for two folks, so I had to hire some guys part time!! We WILL put paint on it this weekend!!! It'll be a sleepless weekend for sure!!
|
Hang in there Chad. You are in the home stretch!
|
Yeah we're getting close!!! I would have liked to be in paint three weeks ago! But we were waiting on alot of things that made that impossible... It's gonna be down to the wire!! I could still use anyone's help that wants to come hang out and help!
I'll post up some shots from the booth this weekend. But after that nothing else till SEMA... I'm really wanting the whole wow factor for Ty the first time he sees it! We wanted to keep it hidden from him until the first day of SEMA for a big reveal, but he'll be riding out with us and will have to help clean it so I'll debut it to him at the shop before we leave... maybe! LOL Once again thanks to all the supporters and to this great community for rallying behind this project!! :lateral: |
Keep at it Chad! You can always sleep for a week once out west! But I'm sure you will have lots of energy during SEMA!!
|
I'll catch up on sleep on the 42 hour drive to Vegas!!! There'll be four of us so I'll get some rest on the way!! It's getting close. I've got to have the car in the trailer just 3 weeks from today!!!
|
New custom license plate will now be: FRDM BRD (Freedom Bird)
I couldn't get "CF-71" as it was already taken!! Unbelievable! I've re-registered the car as Blue and have a temporary tag for it already... just in time for paint! She said the new plates should be here in 7 to 10 days. So we should have them in time for SEMA!! (c:] |
Sweet that you got the plates!! I keep calling on some for mine...but so far they are taken.
|
That plate is going to be really cool on there. How is the battle going this weekend? Do we get paint pictures soon?:unibrow:
|
I haven't seen any pics yet but the paint is flying and Chad should have some pics to post up soon...
In the mean time here's the billet air cleaner that Kevin Swaney engraved for the car: http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...M/DSC02779.jpg http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...M/DSC02772.jpg |
It's been a long weekend!! Had as many as five guys working on it this week!! WE finally got the final coat of primer on this morning at 1 AM!!! Then back up at 8:00 AM and back to blocking. Got through with the last bit of blocking at about 6:30 this evening. Had some dinner then blew it apart and cut in the doors and the jambs. Tomorrow we'll throw it back together and get it in the booth! Tomorrow by this time it'll be in color!!!
Overall 43 hours of bodywork, blocking and priming since Thursday!! It's been a long weekend and I'm spent!! Pics in the morning... |
That air cleaner looks great!
Chad, you guys are doing great with this project. Hang in there buddy. You are almost there!! |
I need a case of redbull and a 12 pack of Jelly Doughnuts!!! I'm running ragged!! Car is sitting in the booth and paints fixing to start flying!! Weather wasn't in out favor yesterday and held us from getting it in the booth. But were on it heavy today. Just got all the interior in my hands so it all ready to go in Wednesday when we get the car out the booth. Pics coming later!!:woot:
|

Ty I'm so happy to see color going on !!!!!!:willy: Chad has it handled. That was a stupid question. When my painter paints tri coats I'm a mental patient..
|
Yeah the tri coat scares me two. We sprayed two test panels last night to make sure we could paint it seperate. And we confident we can do it! Right now watching josh paint is me, his cousin which has 22 years experience with PPG and joshs teacher from tech school. From the test panels and there input I think we will be fine. Or God willing it will all work out
|
Have to go home can't wait to see more pictures tomorrow !
