Nice Rodger looking really good! Is it still going to get the built in air jacks that Dave wanted to put in?

How thick is the intercooler core? Could you use a thinner core or will that negate the effect of having a core because a thinner core wouldn't be able to keep up with the heat and airflow you are going to be making. You could also run no intercooler and just run a boost referenced water alcohol mist before the blower. If you think it will be more street than full on boost that might be a idea. When cruising with the bypass open those don't make much heat at all.

I'm not sure where we will end up with intercooler thickness. I have been talking to some much smarter guys then me at Whipple and Kurt Urban had some good ideas also. The customer is open to machining the intake from Billet to get the best results with our application. One step at a time.

Happy to see this project back in motion,:hapdance:

Well I guess it's about time for an Update on the widebody Camaro project.
Things have come long pretty good in the engine compartment. We are working to get the front suspension crossmember designed and getting the Alternator and AC compress in a low key position. We mocked up a rough seat in the car and are working to get the steering column position set up. We all closed up the panel below the rear window where the car was shortened for less over hang. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013005.jpg We are just mocking up some hinges to see how they will work in a rear ward position nearly 6 inches back from stock with the new firewall position. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013006.jpg This steering column position will be critical for comfort behind the wheel and header clearance and having the column high enough at the firewall to give plenty of room for the movement of the pedal assembly. You can also see the bellhousing mounted starter in position on the passenger side. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013008.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013009.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013010.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013011.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2013012.jpg Enjoy the progress |
WOW, there are a few killer 1st Gen Camaro's being built right now throughout the country and I think this one is going to be a stand out among them!
Rodger, keep the pics coming |

Anything new on this?

I absolutely love what you call "rough" pics! Seeing you start to piece together the ideas, how the panels come together, the stuff before metal finishing, just as amazing as the finished product!

You need to plan a road-trip from TN to CA to see this car in-person...... It is worth the drive. I saw it just a few weeks ago! --Eric |

Check out the C&R electric pump mounted on the radiator.
http://www.crracing.com/wp-content/u...-2012-2013.pdf Think I've seen a LS street radiator with a meziere pump somewhere. Nice fab ! Jim |
Beautiful Rodger. Great update!

Thx, this car has been fun.

cant wait to see that thing finished

We got the headers mocked up the way the customer envisioned his headers. They are nearly equal length but it does not matter with that big Whipple Supercharger.

Looking great Rodger! BTW, what are the two canisters on each side?

I gotta say it---that is like the ultimate Camaro of all time. If the "rough" pics are any indication--SMOTY baby--all the way.

That motor looks strange in there. Its appears to be hanging off the firewall the way a mounted trophy buck looks hanging over the firepalce. Its just not real.

Nice!

We are getting pretty crazy with this project and it has been pushing my Solidworks design skills to get it all incorporated together to the quality and design we shot for on a daily basis. We have just been trying to keep up with all the customers that keep us very busy. One of our many local customers just brought a 3rd car for us to begin working on this week, he wants to go racing in the big track with a bad ass 2nd gen camaro. Be careful what you wish for as you might get it. I'm just glad we have the staff we have in the shop and they want to build the craziness our customers desire. Enjoy some pics. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2014014.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2014013.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2014012.jpg This lower cradle is just for the lower section and to get all the plumbing together for the dry sump and other engine accessories. I have the bitchin parts to build off of this if I can ever decide what design I like the best and will work the best for what we are doing. |
Any updates?

We have gotten the UCA mounts defined and getting some other plates set up to reinforce the front end. We have the radiator mounted in position so we are now ready to cut the parts to permanently mount it in the car.
