guys with Greg Weld money buy 5 axis machines.

Correct, it is a 3 with a sneaky fourth axis.

5 axis is great for high production tight tolerance work of the Aerospace nature, 4 axis machines are affordable and are very capable of making anything you can dream up, true it may take an extra operation or some surfacing tool paths but considering the time saved in programming, tooling, software and machine price 4 axis machines are logical and more practical then 5 axis, 80% of parts in most industries are easily produced in 3 axis machines. thats my 2 pennies worth.. I am excited to see what you guys come up with,, PM me if you ever need some programming assistance. I am sure you guys already have more then capable people on the scene..

It has been a too long since we have updated this thread. We have been pretty busy working on a wide range of projects. Here are a few updates on some unique stuff from the past 2 months.

Jimmy brought us this clean 40 Ford to update and wake it up. It will be getting new wheels, custom engine cover adn air intake, and laying down some flames on the nose.

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...psa9b16848.jpg

Here is the engine cover fab work. We started with a radiator close out panel to hide all of the stuff going on under it. Radiator, condensor, overflor, hood latch, etc...
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps581b1942.jpg[/URL]

Then fabbed up a sheet metal engine cover to give the car a unique look.

Ed's Speed 33 is also getting into the assembly stages. Body and components have just come out of paint and the chassis is just about assembled. We should be mating the two together by the end of the week.

Thanks!

We are burried int he mechanical/assembly side right now trying to get a few cars assembled for the summer. We should have 2-3 leaving around Columbus, we should be able to get it in right after that.

The 55 is just a chassis install withj our new REVO IFS and some metal work. It is in the assembly stages now. I'll gather up some pictures and post them up next week.

Bill, our 2nd Gen chassis is normally built that way. This customer wanted to try to retain as much of the original floor as possible and wasn't interested in a low stance. So we did a chassis for this car that basically ran back as an extension of the sub-frame. It will still be much stronger than a subframe and connectors, and more than enough for the intentions of this car.

Here is a pic of our standard 2nd gen chassis

And the standard stance

We have been making good progress on the orange Speed 33 and thought it was time to share some more pictures.

Dash with semi-custom gauges from Classic Instruments and a bezel that we machined for it.

Tail light bezel and trim spear that we machined to work with 1940's Chevy lenses.

Roadster Shop 07-20-2013 08:58 AM

The car is about ready to head off to upholstery next week. A few final details are left to complete on it before we ship it out.

The top will be re-upholstered to a charcoal color and the wheels will be changed to Billet Specialties Bonneville G's. The wheels on it are just rollers for the time being... although it looks really tough with the black and stainless wire wheels!

Roush SBF with Fast EFI that is good for 450-500 HP. Should make this little car a blast to drive.

Chopped stock 33 shell with the radiator cap removed. Thanks to Advanced Plating for the killer chrome work! (Need to do the alighment before we install the headlights)

Richio1 07-20-2013 09:17 AM

That is simply stunning. Fantastic job and execution.

One day I will have one of these. Always thought I would go Brizio or Factory5. Now I think it should RS.

214Chevy 07-20-2013 12:12 PM

Absolutely stunning.

WSSix 07-20-2013 03:03 PM

Temporary or not those wire wheels look great. I would keep the car just like it is if it was mine. Great job guys!

Those Speed '33's are okay.... if that's what you're in to.

That thing makes my mouth water. Absolutely gorgeous.

FETorino 07-20-2013 11:04 PM

:wow: What a shock. The RS crew busting out another amazing build.

Those wires with the black hoops and top will be hard to top

Every time I click a new build thread I hope to see a car with black hoops and some flavor polished or brushed or whatever centers. Those rollers look really cool!

214Chevy 07-21-2013 10:46 AM

Yeah, in reference to the wheels, it's gonna be hard to beat the wires with that color combo. Whatever new wheels the owner chooses, he's got some big shoes to follow behind what's on there now. :drive:

Roadster Shop 07-22-2013 06:55 AM

Thanks for the replies! The wire wheels will be pretty tough to beat, but the Billet Bonneville G is a real good looking wheel as well.

tones2SS 07-22-2013 04:49 PM

I will say, Roadster Shop is ahead of the curve. Great jobs guys!

jarhead 07-31-2013 06:30 PM

Didn't know this thread existed until last night. Only took two nights to go through it. I am now officially addicted, and need a fix

We will try to get some updates posted this week. I just looked back and saw that July was the last time that we posted anything to this thread. We will try to gather some pics and bring this thread back up to speed.
