Yeah that is a $$$$ shot. It's my buddy Brent's motor. He's got it bad and that motor is sick. It may be the best example of a NA big cube streetable LS motor I've seen. His sig is above and his build thread is on LS1tech, same user name.

That's a CF Kinsler thing-a-majig Gae.

I dont think I've ever seen someone hijack their own thread,

Thanks for the props Ron....be a nice "bolt-on" for your ride :hail: I can talk to Shawn for ya ;)

I'm a Hijacker! Funny too, 'cause your motor is a nice intro to my 'puny' 427 build which should be done this week.

MaxHarvard 10-12-2011 09:30 AM

Love that intake.... ohhh gawwwwdd i love that intake!

OVRKILL 10-12-2011 10:04 AM

Thanks guys.... "Warm up" numbers were fairly impressive without any real tuning taking place. Next few days should be interesting.

Hey Ron, is their a target power number for that 'lil 427?

If your motor is a good intro to Ron's I'd like to see that as well. Would love to have that motor.

We're thinkin' 630 fwhp. It's got a relatively small cam in it built for fast revs and a tall/flat torque curve. Details and pics to follow in a few days as soon as it's buttoned up.

I thought that engine looked familiar! I just read the update on it. That thing is going to be nasty for sure! I think he said it hit 700 horses without a tune/final touches and on pump gas.

OVRKILL 10-12-2011 05:33 PM

You guys dont want to see some 4th gen bolt-on, check all the after market vender boxes, street bruisin, show-n-go, pavement buckling Camaro with all these crazy ass, no expense spared 1st gen's floating around here, right?

.....of course, I suppose I could throw a couple pics up. That narrowed Midwest 9" rear end is pretty sweet :unibrow:

So time for a long overdue update. Two days after I got the car home I had knee surgery. Sat on my a** for two weeks went back to the doc for a follow up and was told it needed a redo. WTF/whatever, it'll be fine when it's all healed up. Had it redone. I did try to use the time wisely planning and spending $$$ on parts. Sat on my duff for another two weeks till I couldn't stand it any more, so I had a buddy come over yesterday and we got the ZR1 hubs, wheels and front brakes on the car. I chased threads, barked out orders (nicely) and he was my legs while I sat in the rolling shop chair.

Really happy with the theme. The look of the black centered wheels/polished hoops really chages the car as I thought it would (+1 for the render). I also think the meats fill up the rear nicely. Can't focus on stance till I get some fab done and more weight in the car. I'm a week or two from getting it down to Cris and I'll get some more updates once he gets rollin'. Parts have been coming in and the motor build is almost done so I'll update that soon as well. Thx for the emails and PMs while I've been gimping it a home...

Your car is looking sick, Any up date's? I was going to ask about stance but I read your post, I feel like mine set's high right now, Im sure there is 1200lbs going back in, if not more.

Good luck on your car.

Ron in SoCal 10-18-2011 08:15 AM

^ Hey Kirk! Thx for the props. The car is prepped and ready to head down to JCG as soon as Blue Balls is farily settled from the SEMA thrash. I've been collecting parts ($$$) and still have quite a bit to go once Cris and I make some final mock up decisions. The plan for Cris is to do a little fab, get some plumbing done and make sure the tranny tunnel/pinion angle work out.

The motor is getting buttoned up as we speak and I'll be posting some details and pics once it's done. Brent (Ovrkill) sure is a tough HP/bling act to follow, but my build goal was to try ad avoid some of the known weak links w the LS7s.

Stance....there's a tough one. I measured my front fender height but without weigth and settling it doesnt mean that much - rough guess It will come down ~ 1.5 - 2.5" in the front. Something looks funky w my springs so I may have to address that as well. Looking at yours, I think you'll want to come down that much too?

Good to hear about the progress despite the holding pattern. I know you must be anxious Ron. Looking forward to the next phase.

Thx fellas! Frankie you've been pretty quiet lately. Hope the family and car project's all good...

As Dave mentioned, War, Blue Balls and Payback are a tough acts to follow, but here's a quick update. I've mentioned in the last couple of pages the motor is buttoned up and I need to get over to QMP and get final specs and pics. Here's a couple of 'in-progress' shots -

As you might imagine, Professor Cris already has his wheels spinning. Not much is expected till after SEMA when we have a little more time to plan and execute.

Payton King 10-25-2011 11:31 AM

I thought you would be driving by now. LOL

Glad to see the motor coming together, should move quickly now.

tones2SS 10-25-2011 05:14 PM

Nice to see the updates Ron. You're in good hands with "Professor" Cris working on your car.

70rs 10-25-2011 07:03 PM

Congrats on getting it to Cris buddy! Let the games begin!!!!

Vegas69 10-25-2011 07:34 PM

She's in good hands buddy. Just put a leash on Cris and things will be alright. :unibrow: Meaning, you won't be living in your Camaro. I'm looking forward to seeing your car done. I can tell you have really thought this car out very well. In many ways, finishing a car in todays enviroment is a huge advantage. I really think protouring is in it's prime.
