Sorry to hear your day got cut short, at least it back together for next time. If you want take Charlie's car until you decide on a second car for yourself.

NO! no No! Really again.....? |
What a lemon... Charley take a refund? :computer:

A "minor" issue really.... and was fixed immediately without hesitation on the engine builders part. It's racing - it's a racing engine - stuff happens when you're pushing it. I'm okay with the outcome despite the shortened seat time. Quote:
His "fix" is for me to buy a spare car..... LOL --- Not a bad idea really. |

You should get one of those stock cars (Charley's or otherwise). Pretty cheap fun if you ask me. |

CHEAP?!?!?!?! That bastage has already cost me about 400 grand!! So much for the "cheap" 40K race car.... The stock cars are "relatively" inexpensive... and they're supposed to be easy and fun to drive.... but I really would rather shop for another Mustang or Camaro or Corvette -- vintage.... OR..... My Nomad would make a really nice donor car and would make an interesting body. Plenty of room to set the motor back a bit... I'd do a big inch LS.... and either modify my current Jim Meyer chassis --- or maybe do something else under it... big tubs... gutted -- pure race car. I've been "thinkin" on it a bit since Sonoma! |

Charley and I were looking at this one on Sunday....

Have you pulled the trigger yet? :popcorn2: |
No !!! He is not and never will be adult enough for a car like that on a track !!!!
|
That is the best looking Cobra I've ever seen.... have any more details on it?

20th Anniversary edition --- from SuperPerformance --- only 20 of them being built.... I agree with you -- that's the baddddddddest Cobra I've ever seen. But I also agree with Charley -- me in an open car like that - might be a bad idea. HAHAHAHAHAHA |

GOOD ADVICE..... Thanks Mom! |
I say you go old school...
http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/3983086392.html I was actually looking for the 66-7 corvette that's been sitting on CL for months. Flared wheel wells, no windshield needed work but nothing you couldn't handle. I'm thinking it was even in your neck of the woods,'Redmond or Bellevue. Dan |

We're not allowed to run open wheel cars at our Nor Cal Shelby events.... if we could -- I'd buy a Formula Mazda series car in a heartbeat. They have small easy to service motors -- and use front and rear downforce (which really works!).... and you can get some milage out of a set of tires. For me - the actual track time is only part of the "deal".... like most car stuff -- it's more about the people and going out to dinner and all the other stuff that surrounds an event. We have a really great group that runs these Nor Cal Shelby events so I want to be able to continue to do them. |

Man that is some serious crop dusting! |
That can't be Greg driving he wouldn't be sitting that high in the seat.
Trust me I am not much taller them him (maybe an inch) and I need a booster seat to sit that high in an old mustang. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ats/file-3.jpg |
Bad track car but a great street menace. :D

I just helped my next door neighbor and good friend dump a Smeding in his factory five,,,,i'm like hurry hurry hurry get this thing done!!!! Were supposed to take our cars to Thunderhill next summer. but man, that black and gold just does it. reminds me of the john players special f1 car in the 70's |
Have to agree with you Mike! That's one bad to the bone Cobra!
But my good -- far smarter than me -- buddy Mister Charley has talked me out of trying to race what is well known as a "wild one".... He's right of course... So I'm on the hunt for something that I can handle and have fun with -- without hurting myself or my pride! LOL EEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAA But I'm tellin' ya --- that Cobra gives me night sweats! |
From what i understand, its like a streetbike with four wheels and waaaay too much hp for what it weighs....i think its what we (us car guys) would call a "spinner" lol. All's i know is guys like Carol Shelby, back in the day, had balls of steel.
|
If you don't I will !!!!
That car is now on my bucket list of cars to build or screw it just buy it. :G-Dub: Quote:

Thanks Dale!
I had to clean it all up once I got it out of the trailer.... I even detailed the trunk! It's a really nice car. The driver - not so much! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ats/file-8.jpg |
Man that is a cool track car Greg! From every angle, running and parked in the shed

Thanks Ron! I like it way better when the smoke stays inside the engine!! LOL We were all accusing Charley of selling me a lemon all weekend! It is Yellow, after all! |
Greg, whats the advantages of that rear glass set up?
|
Good question!
The R code Shelby's had no side windows ---- and that rear glass (lexan actually) lets the air flow through the car. The top of the car would create a low pressure area allowing the air coming in the car (high pressure) to be "sucked out" the rear. |
