Wow you are a sucker..... SMH

Good news I sold it, made a bunch of money and did it again on the Syborg Truck.

Now the new truck you just bought for Alex is very nice. Anymore details you want to share about the truck.

It's all complete and just needs to be blown apart and finished. So guess Dad is now building Alex his first "hot rod". He can use it for his business... and it gives me something to do.

Very cool! Still a soft spot in my heart for the 47-53 Trucks, but I'd probably never build another "nice" one. If I ever have another it would be a beater/patina shop truck version!

You're a good dad no matter what Alex keeps telling people.

waynieZ 06-23-2015 10:15 AM

I love old pickups.

DBasher 06-23-2015 10:36 AM

Cool truck! My first "hot rod" was a series 1 55 five window. I bought it from the owners of the Blue Moon in Seattle, wish I still had the doors with the pin up girl sitting in the moon!
Remember R&B's? I sold the truck to go on the Americruise they led with my brother in his 56 Dodge.....Seattle to Illinois, camping or sleeping in the bed, meeting the up and coming Troy Trepanier, Billy Gibbons and Cadzilla....oh the memories!

I'm sure Alex will enjoy it, a bit diiferent then what he's into now....come to think of it, CF splitter, rear diffuser, running board/ground effects some 19's......:confused59:

Same truck that's on ebay right now?

Che70velle 06-23-2015 11:55 AM

So Greg, will this truck get built at Sun Valley Performance, or are you gonna drop it off at RS, etc? The grille on that beauty is worth is bundle, by itself.

I had a '56 Ford P/U as a teen and loved it - and I had a '53 Chevy hot rod P/U... and of course the '40 is "up next". Yeah - a pick up is so handy to have... I'm really surprised more people haven't caught on.

This truck might be done about the time he gets out of prison.

Good stuff DB!! And yeah -- Alex's mind is going a mile a minute right now with all the stuff that can/could be done.

Probably went on eBay 5 minutes after the guy got the wire transfer... since he has my money - the truck and the title. :badidea: :drowninga: :catfight: :lostmarbles: :bitchslap:

It'll be done at South Central Idaho branch of The Roadster Shop.... i.e., my dump. I can do it all expect the upholstery.... and Gwen is happiest when I have a project.

No.

It's 'in sand'.

GregWeld 11-11-2015 06:15 AM

This poor old truck has been back burnered due to many "other things" going on -- at the builder with some help changes etc and other projects that needed priority.... and I've been so busy with the house and all it's details that getting the truck done wasn't even thought about... I'm okay with that.... it's not like I don't have enough other stuff to drive and play with.

Jimmy Smith ( http://www.jimmyshotroddesign.com/ ) and I had a long discussion yesterday about finishing up the design details so we can get Pinkee's the direction they need to get back to work on it. He should have some more detailed drawings (choices) in a couple weeks.

I will say there's lots of interesting "Pinkee's" touches on this truck for what is to be a "daily driver"... Lightening holes in the truck bed mounts.... and a few other little surprises. LOL

You'll have to look closely --- towards the cab for the bed mounts...

Note the nicely done "Pinkee's Touch" corner gussets. HA!!

Some nice touches. You and your girl Stella have the Jeep to cruise in.
Besides the build is supposed to be fun, not something you have to stress about fitting in. It's looking good!

Ketzer 11-11-2015 06:41 AM

One of the best things for a build... no deadline. My ideas definitely improve as they have time to fully develop and I often find easier, cleaner solutions to fab or design issues once I let my thoughts fully cook out.
You have a great attitude about the whole process GW.

syborg tt 11-11-2015 06:53 AM

I agree deadlines on hot rods are just not worth it.

btw - the truck looks great.

clill 11-11-2015 07:03 AM

But he has a fricken deadline. He is planning on driving it on next years Good-Guys tour in September. He's already behind.....

DBasher 11-11-2015 09:24 AM

The "chop" is too subtle, may need to take a bit more out....:action-smiley-027:

That would be a small goal.... but I'm not going to bust any butt in an effort to rush just for that. If it's not done I'm just going to borrow one of your cars to drive.

clill 11-11-2015 11:09 AM

You can drive my no top, no ac roadster.

Sieg 11-11-2015 11:20 AM

Segway......visualize a guy riding a Harley with Ape Hanger bars.

Why just "visualize" an Ape on a hanger.....

Oh wait.... that wasn't exactly what you said.... LOL

Got some update pics from Pinkee's.....

Like most gazillion year old bodies - mine needs some attention. LOL

Where the fender meets the body was a little punky... so it got repaired. Here's what people need to understand or recognize. Sure there are shops out there that will build you a car for "far less"... but your "far less" will buy you bondo - not actual metal work.

And the old girl needed some help in the hinge department.....

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...20Pickup/J.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...20Pickup/Y.jpg

And of course, we needed some new inner fender metal....

I only wish I could do metalwork like that.... my above comment about getting bondo or metalwork --- mine would be metal that is capable of holding bondo. LOL

RECOVERY ROOM 12-02-2015 06:35 PM

is it done yet, Im not getting any younger you know

Che70velle 12-02-2015 08:04 PM

About time Greg. That's nice work, but I know you have more to show us...:hello:

Ketzer 12-03-2015 05:40 AM

I like that you're keeping visible hinges and not making it too much of a smoothster.

That's an odd looking Coyote in there...:stirthepot:

Lenie 12-03-2015 08:22 AM

Real metal work, my favorite part of the build.
