Yes, very nice progress indeed. Looking forward to seeing it done.,
|
Others have already said it but I am glad you stuck with this project. It is coming out great.

thoughts on manual vs power brakes?

Manual brakes are simpler and take up less space when that is a concern. |
I looking for a gauge carrier for the Dakota Digital gauges... they use a stock one, but the re-pop ones all look like crap.
May end up making one. |
JJ, I have the Dakota Digital 2nd gen in a repop carrier and the carrier SUX! I'll end up making one.
Manual brakes (just did it) with Baer 6 piston on order with MCB. Jury's still out for me, right now I miss the booster, but haven't tracked it yet with the new set up, which was the whole reason for going booster less. How did the curved quarter glass go, or what did u do? (The truck project) |

Thing is, that truck is going to SEMA, so I need to get on it. Edit: So folks know what Glassman and I are talking about... the tow rig. A modern chassis under an old cab and custom sleeper, with 50's Spartan trailer accents. Sadly, I need to have custom curved automotive glass made from the plexi glass I have. |

So, I started to make a billet gauge carrier.
Lots of programming, lots of milling. More to come on this. Two things I refuse to do on my cars: wiring and plumbing. My friend Randy loves it. So it's at his shop. I designed the wiring and plumbing and he's executing it very nicely. Always a good thing to see the first item light up. Always fun to find the stuff you didn't fit up before paint. I need to cut the front sub frame horns to fit the radiator. Eating that elephant one bite at a time. |
It looks like it's coming along nice. I've been holding off on the wiring because I'm not too fond of it either. Those light will let everyone know your stopping. They look nice.
|
Thanks, Dakota Digital LED's with Fesler lenses.

Some hacking... figures, the only thing I didn't test fit before paint.
Radiator's in:ohsnap: Time to break out the welder, again. |

Miles of wire... miles of stainless plumbing.
Just a wee bit of a cut. |

Trying to find a place for all this stuff, hide and keep it serviceable is nuts.

and the death by 1k paper cuts continues.
Brake master cyl, clutch cyl and steering column are in, using Mean Streets brackets. The clutch cyl reservoir will be hard plumbed. Steering column is in, with a custom bracket that mounts the column low in the firewall. |
Went manual brakes. Didn't have room with the down bars to fit the Baer Re-Master... now have one for power/hydro assist disk/disk since it was easier to buy a new one with smaller bore than change the bore I had.

More things going on than coming off these days.
Went with a rear sway bar from my friends at Ride Tech. Love that it fits exactly where I thought it would. Nice adjust-ability, too. |
I ran my Harness through the firewall above the bellhousing behind the motor. it's almost all hidden except the injector wires. My coils are mounted down low on the frame under the headers and hidden too.

Today's lesson is all about math. How to make a manual brake set up really work... requires leverage and drilling the brake arm to get it right. We did that, with the help of Baer. Might do this on my black GMC. I did find a set of Carbon Ceramic brakes I am noodling on. |
How much did you end up lowering the mounting point?

If you mean the brakes? We followed this: http://www.mpbrakes.com/techtalk/how...ng-pedal-ratio We did a 5.5:1 ratio... splitting the difference. |

Looking at your pictures and looking at mine and my Subframe it looks like I will have to modify it similar to what you have done.

I think you do, too.
Not hard to figure out, with a measuring tape. |

and today's pics. More cutting... took 2.5" out of the tunnel to get the shifter in. I'll need a different console. I plan to build one that looks seamless to the dash. Like my black GMC C15... what's another 40 hours? :/
I know, I need longer plug wires... those were made before we moved the coils. |
So excited to see this once it's finished.... love the rate of work!

So, tires size is set.
Front and rear... |
Still motoring away on this. Have all the AC plumbing and fuel to go.
Wiring is almost done. |
Good news. Wiring, That's a big job to get out of the way.

Thanks. We're mostly done with wiring, HVAC plumbing and now onto brakes, with all stainless lines and fittings. I am very thankful for my hydraulic flaring tools. Can't wait to get this back into my shop and get the front body panels on it. |
Coming along nicely, JJ. Keep up the good work!

Routing brake lines is always fun.
Yes, I have more clamps. No vibration to work harden and break lines allowed. |
Everything is looking great JJ!!
Man, I wish mine was that far along :headspin: |

Still plugging away... not looking forward to bug fix. Should be minimal though.

Here are the part numbers for the ARP Hardware for the Tiger Cage.
