The carbon front clip look simply goergous

Stielow 09-30-2013 04:24 AM

A couple more shots from my crappy Blackberry.

To package the air cleaner was a bit of a task. Having all the inlet air come from the grill and sealed from the underhood air is worth a lot in power and drivability.

We tried something new for the front A-piler bars. We sunk them into the structure in the hinge piler to get more room for stuff under the dash and to keep them away from my ankels. Now I can have a dead pedal and keep the stock parking brake.

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps336a688a.jpg

Matt also weled the bar to the dash on the pass through.

Looks great Mark. Sinking it into the hinge pillars has to add big time to the rigidity.

coolwelder62 09-30-2013 05:31 AM

Very Cool Mark.

suark 09-30-2013 05:53 AM

Looking good Mark! How much reinforcing do you do to the floor for your integrated crossmember? Do you have any pics? Thanks

Leave the man alone! He's been real busy bringing us the new Z/28….

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

coachwinbush 10-27-2013 04:25 PM

LS7 Z/28 11-11-2013 05:46 AM

Congrats on another great finish at OUSCI Mark. I'm sure driving Mayhem again gave you a lot of motivation to work on XV.

Sorry guys for no updates. I've been very busy with the 2014i Z/28 Camaro and my shop. The car has left Sled Alley and is at the Dutchboys. Matt at Sled Alley did a awesome job on this car. It was there for almost two years getting work done. Matt is a top notch guy and his craftsman ship is great. I really like working with him because he gets it. We only had to rework a couple small things to get them the way I wanted them. For a project this big and complex that is very good. Now the VanNus's have it to paint. Another top flight bunch of guys. Working with this guys make the projects fun and allows me to do my day job and get stuff done.

My goal is to have my new shop done by Feb to line up when the car is back from paint. I will assemble it at my house. I like having the backyard shop.

Attached are a couple shots for the Dutchboy's. I'll try to post more later.

Mark

The new shop

If I did not post this here this is the new shop. 45' X 45' with a full upstairs 45' X 20'. The ceiling on the main floor are 12 feet tall so I'm setting it up for a hoist. It was built in 2001 and never finished. We have been moving walls, adding a bathroom, rewiring and adding heat. Hope to up and running in Feb.

coolwelder62 12-21-2013 06:31 AM

The new shop in awesome Mark.Very classy.

frankv11 12-21-2013 06:43 AM

Now there's a shop that even the wife would love.
You definetly got estilo stielow!

GregWeld 12-21-2013 06:47 AM

OMG --- Is that an F-150 in the driveway?? LOL

Looking great Mark!

Really like the style of the shop. Having a lift will have you NEVER going back to using jackstands and a creeper. Well - you still may hang out with Charley once in awhile - but he's a different kind of creeper. LOL

WSSix 12-21-2013 07:08 AM

Greg beat me to it about the F150, lol.

I'm excited to see the paint scheme on this one. I thought Mayhem was great and very distinctive.

Glad the car is moving along nicely, Mark. Do you have a new projected completion date you're aiming for or are you just going to take your time and enjoy it?

Sieg 12-21-2013 07:57 AM

Very nice Mark! Beautiful bride, new shop, Z/28 project......I'd say 2013 was pretty good to you. Have a wonderful Christmas.

I guess you are not on Facebook, but in his attached garage is a new 2014 2500 D-MAX. Maybe Mark will post it.

That would be awesome! Talk about a house divided.

The new attached garage can fit 2 full size trucks a '69 Camaro and junk.

I wanted an attached garage you can pull into and open the doors on your vehicles.

Right now we have my company vehicle a 2015 2500 HD, Laura's company vehicle a 2014 King Ranch F-150 and Jack Ass in the attached garage.

Mark

GregWeld 12-27-2013 12:50 PM

Man would I ever have a hard time putting sand paper to that carbon fiber!!! LOL

Looks great Mark.

Do you two ever have the "my truck does "X" and your's doesn't" discussion?

Just kidding.

In my experience the parts fit very well, much better than reproduction steel, but the finish is not to my standards as far as looking as nice as paint will. My fenders have fingerprints under the clear coat that you can see in the sun, along with a few specs of debris here and there. Not sure how Mark's parts are. Not trying to throw Anvil under the bus, I will still buy more from them and am planning on it, just not leaving them exposed.

Yes all the time. Ford does some stuff well. Laura just got her 2014 F-150 and we drove it to Torch Lake. Ford changed the steering from 2013 to 2014. There My Touch system really sucks. But her truck tows a 26 foot enclosed well enough. Not as well as my 2500 HD D-Max but if you need to will get it done.

If you compare the 2014 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck to the Ford 1/2 ton the GM wins hands down. My only issue with the 2014 GM Full Size Truck is the new radio controls are bad. Seems to be a common issue on a lot of new vehicles.
