This car stuff is an excellent cure for an end of year/term brain demolition exercise.

Yes good therapy fer sure, gotta keep picking at it and it'll be done!!

Great build. I wish I had the skills like you. Question for you. Being a total noob (only welded once) I read that you are just bonding the inner and outer together? Also your just gluing the tubs in? Please correct me if I am wrong. I am trying to figure out how to replace my outers with my quarters still on the car. If I can mini tub just by gluing the tubs together I will do that. Less money. Thanks! I have a 69 Camaro BTW

Replacing the outer wheel house with the quarter in place can be done however you will need to get all the mating surfaces down to bare metal before bonding. So take your time and pay attention to the flanges and your cut lines and you will be fine. The strength of the bond depends on the cleanliness of the prep work and the "best fit" of the metal, in other words, you can't have gaps in the metal and expect the bond to hold as intended .... get 'er tight and clamp everything tight.

Good luck!

Kinda cold for shooting epoxy ... sprayed outside and brought the parts into the heated garage to flash and now they are sitting in the bedroom curing. I got the trunk drip rails and the top dash in primer. Tomorrow I'll get the heat going and bond the dash top.

Thanks for looking and asking questions ...

:thankyou: Seems like I get something done and then I think of something else that needs to get done ... lol!

Hate it when you run outa clamps and adhesive ... thought I'd be able to get both the dash and rear filler panel bonded, NOT enough clamps or super glue :bang: .

Just for the future you could of used or can use less clamps and use a piece of flat bar under each clamp to spread out the clamp load area.

Looking beautiful. I'm glad your car is coming together so fast now.

Hey thanks! :popcorn2: Yeah, I used flat stock on the mini-tubs to spread out the clamping force, however, I didn't have anything narrower than 3" for the dash top, besides there isn't much flat on the top!!

Just an FYI, the adhesive sticks to bare metal so you must ensure your clamps are at least zinc coated or painted, or wrap your bar stock with plastic wrap, or best ... clamps with plastic bases as shown!!

Thanks for looking ...

Mike, it's just one of those things you acquire when you're building a car from scratch. Who is doing your paint work?

And .... sometimes you have to improvise when bonding like holding down the pan plugs with dumbells!

#1 --- I'm glad to see you didn't give up the pink weights you usually work out with.

#2 --- Like I told Rudy every weekend for 16 months..... DUDE! Pick up a tool and do something with it.... this crap don't build themselves.

#3 --- Waiting nightly - like some around here do - for the elves to show up and finish it at night while you're sleeping.... Well yeah.... You'll end up with a very nice box holder.

Glad to see you're banging it out! Looks great!
