I design toys for a living. I enjoy it, but working for someone else isn't going to make me independently wealthy. Especially since I spend all my free coin on my car.

It seems to me that there are alot of "healthy" people on this forum.
I want to know how long you last during love making with your spouse.

You do not have to comment so that you can remain anonymous, just take the poll.

If you would like, let us know what you do for a living in order to prolong your stamina.

oh crap......wrong website...............

I was brought up on the work hard, get good grades and work hard at a good career and one will prosper mentality. Then an accountant friend suggested I read Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad and boy did my mind set change!

Working alongside guys all on six figure salaries it became apparent that some were doing extremely well while others on the identical pay scale lived pay check to pay check.

Doing some digging revealed that the ones doing well made their dollars work for them as opposed to being a slave to it. I'm glad this change of mind-set occured in my early 20's as now in my late 20's having read countless titles on investment and personal development (and continuing to do so), through applying the principles learned I no longer have to rely on the 9-5 for my crust.

It's like someone mentioned earlier about their PT. It's funny how some will snigger with envy and ask "why not me?" meanwhile the clever ones ask "how can I?"

In the past few generations what it takes to be wealthy has changed drastically, I do believe in working hard to a point, but working smarter is much better :)

Marry your high school sweetheart - stay together for 40 years - buy a color tv with a remote for the bedroom. You won't have to worry about such things.

#1 rule I tell my kids.... You can't spend your way to wealth.

In other words - carrying around a Gucci purse won't make you wealthy. Buy some stock - or SAVE some money - and you can buy 100 Gucci purses when you ARE truly wealthy. Driving around in a leased BMW won't get you there.

Interesting comments here and some good lessons for those that are willing to learn them. My perspective, while perhaps a little unsympathetic to some of the complaints of the 99%(of which I have been a member for much of my life), is merely a product of my own life experiences. I grew up very poor, moved out on my own in my senior year of high school and built up my business from scratch several times from the age of 18. My business was cut in half in 2001 from 9-11. I completely changed my business and through hard work built it back up. The housing industry collapse reduced my income by 80% in 2008. Again through hard work and changing my product lines I built my business up again and am on track to match my best year. The reason I mention this is that as someone who has been in the 1% several times and suffered huge hits, I firmly believe "luck" is the culmination of many good decisions.
If I had not sold our homes in 2007(it was apparent we would see a correction), lived well below my means, and been completely debt free(again, making your own luck) I likely would have gone through bankruptcy and at the very least my business would not have flourished again. As others have said, get debt free, build up at least a six month cushion in your savings, live below your means and you will have the necessary foundation to build your own wealth. If you don't have the basics covered being a millionaire is a short lived thing.
