Well, It's hard to believe.
I dropped the truck off at Comp Fab in March of 2005 and it's finally coming home. This will be the last pictures of the truck at Dave's for some time. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_07_002.jpg on the ground http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_07_004.jpg Outside on the trailer - getting ready to go home. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_07_006.jpg http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_07_007.jpg At home in my shop. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_07_008.jpg Okay now I can say plenty more to come soon. |

Sweet Euphoria! Great update, things are really looking good. Oh and a guess on where you mounted the AC Drier. It appears to be behind the intercooler mounted to the core support

ya know i couldn't agree with you more.
I slightly burned out working to much and i am trying to finish my garage so i can have heat in my garage. Who would of thought framing in an attic for parts and insulating would cost 1,000 in materials alone. Quote:

Marty, nice to see the truck at home, give me a call I'd love to give you a hand, plus it would give me a excuse to return your tool.

Happy Wednesday,
Okay I wanted to send this out yesterday but I just plumb ran out of time. Carter Hickman is the man. He did an incredible job on the 3-D rendering of my truck. It has the actual wheels, Brakes, exhaust cut out & bed cover. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...T_Final640.jpg If your looking for idea's as to what you ride may look like. Send him a e-mail. ( [email protected] ) If you want to see some of the other renderings he did you can view them here. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/gallery/chd Carter has got to be one of the best vendors I have every worked with. End of Story!!! |
Very nice. Looks great. I hope we meet at the power tour. If not, we got plenty of time. It's all about having fun.

Good Morning All,
Okay I haven't had time to work on the truck the last two weeks. Seems working on the Garage has taken precedence. It's very hard to be in the garage when it's 20 degrees. I needed to build an attic so I could have a place to put the parts once I disassembled the truck. So plans are to build an attic over the front half of my garage. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_02_001.jpg Sixteen twenty foot 2 x 8's, ten sheets of 1/2" plywood & twenty-one eight foot 2 x 6's later we have an attic. Next time I plan to get some friends to help. Those 20 foot 2 x 8's are brutal to lift by your self. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_11_001.jpg Eight more Ten foot 2 x 6's for the vaulted ceiling (need the height for the lift). Did I mention I hate ladders let alone working at 12 feet in the air? http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_11_003.jpg Now it's time for the itchy stuff. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_13_001.jpg Okay the back half of the garage is Insulated. Now I need to put up a temporary wall and insulate the new attic floor. I almost forgot -- I really need to clean up this mess. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_14_005.jpg |
Okay parts update.
The Mallory Crank Trigger for the project came in today. Thanks to Mike Lee at Race Proven Motors for the support. www.raceprovenmotors.com http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_17_001.jpg Temporary Curtain to keep the heat in the back half of the garage. Wait till you see the permanent curtain. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_20_001.jpg It's all organized and ready to work. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_20_004.jpg So in the end. 16 - 2 x 8 x 20 foot boards 21 - 2 x 6 x 8 foot boards 10 - 4 x 8 x 1/2" sheets of plywood 3 - 8.6' x 11.6' Tarps 1 - Attic Ladder 1 - Fluorescent Light 4800 Staples (arm really hurts) One Hammer Stapler 6 Rolls of R-13 Insulation 5 Rolls of R-19 Insulation 146 Pro Vents for the Vaulted Ceiling (not foreseen in the budget) 2 - Craftsman Rolling tool chests (also not in the budget) It's complete and I'm to tired to work on the truck. Did I also mention my wife never complained once during this project and all the hours I spent working in my garage. |

The most amazing statement in the update :D Nice work on the carpentry there Marty! |
Good Morning All,
Things are Finally falling into place. The Guy's the Crew @ Rockford Racecraft have starting working on the motor. It's ready to be assembled. Quick Picture of the Pistons from JE ( 4.125 bore ) http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...wouncoated.jpg After Coating and before Coating. The piston coating is a "cermet thermal barrier coating" designed for high temperature/pressure applications and is especially suited for piston domes in forced inducted and nitrous motor applications. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...dvuncoated.jpg Close up of the Coated Pistons http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...oatedclose.jpg Prepping the Bearings for Coating. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...eppedmains.jpg http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...odbearings.jpg |
The bearing coating is a dry film lubricant coating applied at micron thickness and used to prevent scuffing, galling, and reducing reciprocating friction.

Its coming together!

Good Morning All,
Guy and Crew at Rockford Racecraft are getting ready to inspect the block for external flaws. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_01_25_2.jpg They found some flaws that would have to be taken care of before it could be painted. See the Left Hand side of the block. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...1_25_4_Fix.jpg Just a close up view. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...1_25_5_Fix.jpg Needed to get the temporary hardware organized. We plan to install all new hardware on the truck. We will keep you posted as to whom we choose. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_28_001.jpg Had to put the motor together so I can work on the Turbo support brackets. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_28_004.jpg |
Added a couple more shelves to the rack for parts.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_28_005.jpg More to come next week. |

Good Morning All,
Sorry work has really been kicking my butt the last two weeks. Still working on the truck instead of sleeping. Guy cleaned up the burs and casting flaws on the block. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_01_29_0.jpg The front of the block was pretty nasty. Looks very good now. Can't wait to paint the block. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_01_29_1.jpg Put all the cladding back on the truck. Getting it ready for final Fit. Only one piece of cladding left to make in Fiberglass. So I headed off to VFN Fiberglass. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_30_004.jpg Dennis over at Hi Speed Welding Remade the Grille insert in Steel. www.highspeedwelding.com http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._01_30_007.jpg |
Guy getting the rings Ready.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_01_0.jpg Testing them in the Block. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_01_1.jpg Rods & Pistons ready to install in the block. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_01_2.jpg The Long Block should be Assembled in the next week or two. |
Good Morning All,
The truck is in Limbo right now. I need to buy an enclosed trailer so I've spent all of my spare time looking for one. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._02_05_006.jpg In the meantime the Guy's at Rockford Racecraft have assembled the short block. All the parts getting ready for there new home. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_07_0.jpg The infamous v6 Billet Crank. For you v8 guy's these only take 6 to 9 months to get and cost a small fortune. $3000.00 http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_07_2.jpg The Bowtie Block came from GM with ARP Studs. Saves a little money there but then again the block wasn't cheap either. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...7_02_07_11.jpg The Crank Resting in it's new home. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...7_02_07_12.jpg Wait, I don't have any pics of the pistons in the hole. |

02-27-07 Update - Dedicated to Dave "Myclone"
Good Evening All,
This has been a very long week and a very sad Week. http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46822 We lost a great guy in the SyTy Community and he will be Dearly missed. One of his last post over on syty.net was in my build thread. Dave asked if I would adopt him. The answer is yes but I think you a little to old to be my son and no you can't drive my truck. So you are going to have to sit in the passenger seat. The seat is yours Dave - gonna miss you big guy. Okay I will try to go to back to the updates. The New Head Gaskets arrived http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_02_20_0.jpg Getting ready to rip the truck apart again. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._02_24_002.jpg Don't try this at home alone -- not a good idea. Really I am going to buy a lift for my garage. Wait I have an idea anyone want to sponsor me. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._02_24_005.jpg The Bed off and on it's body work stand. Looks like I am going to need to contact Caleb and ask him if he set it up for 7 foot tall body men. :dunno: http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._02_24_006.jpg Chassis sitting naked. Actually I started doing a hardware inventory and it's time to get some new nut's and bolts. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._02_24_008.jpg |
