Thanks again Jim.

56pickup 09-23-2011 08:54 PM

looking good wayne!

Tincup 09-25-2011 04:34 PM

Car is looking great, I wouldn't worry to much about the color of the primer, done properly, your painter should lay down a coat of sealer prior to painting. The sealer can be tinted if necessary, if not, it will at least provide a uniform base.

tones2SS 09-26-2011 06:13 PM

Good to see the updates Wayne. Nice to see your car sitting in your garage.
Keep us posted buddy.

waynieZ 09-26-2011 07:27 PM

I cleaned up the parking brake pedal assembly last night. I used Safest Rust Remover, I soaked it over night and just rinsed with water and dried it. It came out pretty good. I'm going to coat it with satin clear and satin black. Thats the original paint on there. Let me know what you think.
Here are the before pictures.

Ralphlovs72chev 09-26-2011 08:30 PM

What did you use and from were did you get it? It did a very good job. Your car is coming along nicely. A

waynieZ 09-26-2011 08:37 PM

Thats the name of it Safest Rust Remover. Here's the link. I got it online. Its always done a good job for me. http://www.ultraone.com/ Check out the videos they have of it working. Its amazing. I have some of their degreaser but I haven't tried it yet.

70rs 09-26-2011 10:40 PM

Wow! That stuff is amazing! No scrubbing or anything? Just soak it?

waynieZ 09-27-2011 10:51 AM

No scrubbing. You just have to keep it wet, either submerge it or make it flow over the part with a small pump. Once I didn't have enough to cover the part so I took a piece of thick cloth and wet it and just pored it over the cloth every so often to keep it wet and it still worked.

tones2SS 09-27-2011 06:06 PM

Looks good Wayne. Keep up the good work man!

waynieZ 09-27-2011 07:15 PM

Thanks Tony. Tonight I cleaned the clutch, brake pedals and the support. I just noticed even that is date coded.

SWAPMEETCRAZY 09-27-2011 07:18 PM

Wayne ,give us a clue as how much of this stuff is needed to do the parts like U did--Do U reuse or is it DOA after use??.........jim

waynieZ 09-27-2011 07:45 PM

Jim; I used about 3/4 of a gallon thats all I have left. As long as the parts stay covered it works. I think agitation helps.I just bought a pump from Harbor Freight for $10, I'll try that. If you let the parts sit in the solution extra time after its ready it has a carbon looking stuff on the metal, but all I did was move the bucket so the solution swished around and it removes it. The good thing is no matter how long you leave it it doesn't hurt the parts. When I first got it about 3 years ago when I was in and out of the hospital I put some in an open container and forgot about it for a few months and it evaporated. I rinsed off the part that was in it and was good to go. From what I know you can keep using it. Eventually it will get filthy and it will need replacing but not for a long time. If you let it settle and siphon off the junk in the bottom it will help. I think You can add a little water if it evaporates but not too sure it should say on the web site. I always degrease the parts to help keep it clean.
This is where I got it check out the videos of it working.

68MaroSam 09-29-2011 01:29 AM

Wayne. It is all looking great. Looks like you are moving right along. That rust remover seems to work awesome.

Kev's_68_Camaro 10-14-2011 01:46 PM

Wayne....

Anything new on the car?

Kev

waynieZ 10-14-2011 01:58 PM

Fuel and brake lines

Kev; I just got my 1/2" fuel and brake lines in a few days ago from Inline tube and there was a mistake when they made them. There was a mix up on the
rear end housing line its too long where the T for the hose goes. I'll get someone locally to trim and re flare it for me. On the front to back one piece line they put the stone guard on all of it. We had talked about putting it on the rear end line but they put it on the big line. I don't know if its worth shipping it back to them or not. I haven't talked to them about it yet I'll see what they say .

Geesh...

It never ends. Wrong this and that drive us crazy with these cars. Mine has been done for years except the add on's but that's enough. I couldn't handle what you are going through on your build. BTW, did you see/hear a Camaro go by your place a few days last week and the weekend? A white 68 with black stripes ? I was going to stop in but your garage door is never open. Steve said if his truck is there he is there but its not me to just drop in. I will be happy to give you a hand now and then if needed.

Kev

waynieZ 10-14-2011 02:20 PM

He's right if the truck is in the yard I'm usually home. Last couple of weeks were tuff with family stuff. I usually keep the door closed being in the middle of the city. no use advertising what going on inside. I'm usually around after Ten stop by if you want.

Kev's_68_Camaro 10-14-2011 02:30 PM

This weekend should be nice so I will be out in the Camaro. If you hear a fairly loud car about 10am or so Saturday its me. :) How do you like your Dunkin coffee ?

Kev

Kev's_68_Camaro 10-15-2011 06:01 PM

Wayne...

It was nice to see your car in person today! The pictures here on the forum don't really show the quality of work that has been done. Its going to be a show stopper when done no doubt. As I said, you have my number if you need a hand. It was nice throwing the bull about the old days and future plans on your 69.

And finally some good news my daughter came in from California with her husband who just got home from Afghanistan in Sept. I'm going to be a Vavoo again! Thats grand father in Potugese......:D

tones2SS 11-28-2011 06:13 PM

Congrats on being a Vavoo again Wayne!
Hope your back gets better bud. Take care.

waynieZ 12-17-2011 10:18 PM

Well here's a small overdue update. I've been tied up wioth the back and family stuff but I have been working on it.
I started putting the Dynamat in. Here are a few pictures.
I did the complete door sakin and the front part of the quarter panel.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0982.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0983.jpg

Under the dash is started.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0984.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0991.jpg

and most of the floor is done.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0981.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0990.jpg

I put a couple of small pieces in the vent holes where the kick panel goes just to deaden it a little.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/000_0985.jpg

I did the 1/2" fuel line from back to front but don't have very good pictures. My wife just came out to get me she thinks midnight is too late to be taking pictures in the garage. Silly woman !

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...m/000_0992.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...m/000_0993.jpg

Here's what I have planned for my filters, pump and regulator. It will go at the front of the tank something like Lenie used on his car.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...m/000_0989.jpg

I also put in the brake line front to rear and across the front of the sub frame.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/000_0994.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/000_0977.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/000_0969.jpg

And I bolted up the plates for the DSE connectors so they can be welded to the sub after they are painted.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/000_0967.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/000_0968.jpg

We drilled and tapped the plates plus put a nut on the back side.

cencalc6 12-17-2011 10:32 PM

Nice Job on the Fuel lines

waynieZ 12-17-2011 10:36 PM

Looking Good Wayne!

Bryan O 12-17-2011 10:50 PM

Alright Wayne. Good to see your update.

How's the back after installing all that dynamat? Mine was killing me for days after hopping in and out of the car about a thousand times a day.

waynieZ 12-17-2011 11:07 PM

Thanks
Patch First its like being drunk room spinning when that goes away then my back reminds me I'm 56 not 26. It hasn't been too bad I have a buddy Spaceman he's been here with me every day cutting so I don't have to keep jumping in and out too often. He gave me a hand with the rest of the stuff too. He's also like my personal diet counselor every time I moan or groan He says that was that extra helping at diner. PAIN IN MY...... I mean what a nice guy.

settintrendz 12-17-2011 11:26 PM

Looks great under there!!
