Nice work Brett

How do you like that Woodward Shear? 8".....would you go larger? Capacity 3/16" steel? Looks like it would be very handy go-to tool.

SS, it does pretty well for the price point. I did originally get the 12" shear first, but it would flex to much and caused cutting issues even with 16G material. Sent it back and exchanged it for the (original tried and tested) 8" model. Works pretty good. I have limited it's use to 1/8" stock only. Also purchased the rotary ratchet style cutter rated at 1/8". I limit that one to 14G material and that works pretty good for curves. Both of these cutters are entry level and work for their price points in the market.

Thanks, the ratchet shear was also on the radar. 1/8" & 14G would cover my needs nicely.

Brett,

Great looking fab work.

I have no doubt you'll even be able to make Dub's new secret weapon fit when he debuts his signature line 'Big Wanda's Gambler 22".

Awesome work. I'm not sure if you already mentioned it but are you doing all this extra fab work because of the lower than normal ride height your going for or did it need to be done. I've got a full track time kit from Speedtech yet to fit to my 69 Camaro and would like stance like your going to have.
Cheers

Luke

Luke, sorry for the delayed response. Fab 53 is doing this extra work on the setup due to the desired stance I like. In order to have the car sit as low as I like, and to have the suspension fully functional (articulation, travel, etc), the large amount of Fab work was necessary. You will really love your Speedtech kit---I have the road assault kit on the front of mine and it works killer.

That's "hot rodding"....

It's like my '32 -- I'd never heard of a "stub axle" -- now I'm an expert in their replacement!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Kinda wonder about the quality assurance at Speedway Engineering when both seals leak badly on a simple drive around the block after install. Is that the first setup they ever sold? That's got to be very frustrating to both you and Doug, and it's extra money for Doug due to labor costs. Sucks you have to pull the whole rear just to replace some seals. Hopefully we'll see you on the road soon Doug. You mentioned earlier that Ron's Dead Pool '69 has the same rear. Hopefully he doesn't encounter the same issue.

Doug, thanks again for firing up the 1700HP green beast at the Orange County show. You should've been selling clean pairs of underwear next to it. You'd have made a fortune. Un-freakin-real.

Ron in SoCal 09-16-2013 07:35 AM

I was concerned too Chris and spoke to Doug about it. Outside of Blake's Nova which doesn't have any issues, Doug has one of the very first units. Doug's axles and seals and just a bit different than my set up. Speedway has a good plan I think and the rear should be up and running pretty quick.

Indeed. LOL.

Was great to see the often mentioned Torino. The thing looks sick at its ride height---and as DG said "This thing is only days away from running". :lmao:

We had a great time---always fun when a bunch of Lat G bro's get together to hang out---especially when none of them have cars that run. You should have heard how fast they all were yesterday. :ohsnap:

What did it cost him to rent the Wide Load crew for the trip?

GregWeld 09-30-2013 08:25 PM

The hell with their non-running cars..... All three of them should hit up WalMart for some new clothes!

I know it has probably been a while since you were a proletarian car builder, but, sometimes car building budgets don't always allow for such extravagant purchases as WalMart clothing.
