Looking good. I'll have to stop in some time next week and check stuff out. |

I might have to re-name the car "Erte".... I'm impressed Mr Weld, Your showing your vast knowledge of style and design  . The Deco period was one of the coolest design times. I collect all kinds of crap with the look. |

I actually own a lot of freaky art. None of it bought to match the sofa color  .... and an Erte "La Toilette" that I bought when the old coot was still alive and doing art shows in New York City. For me - the process of having these little touches done has been the fun of it. And nobody will notice them but me... but each time I look at the car I'll get a little smile on my fat face remembering that process. |
I have to say I love what you have done to this car. I especially love the little art deco touched here and there. Nice, yet not over powering. Can't wait to see it done.
I hope I don't get completely flamed for critiquing it a little? To me, an early style car like that, with all the art deco touches needs to have a solid axle front end. Not the modern independent polished coil over type like what you are running. The two genres don't blend well together. Of course, this is not my car and I should probably shut my mouth and keep my opinions to myself. I hope I didn't offend? |
Love the badges.

No offense taken. Apparently you've never driven one of these? The difference in ride between the straight axle and the all around IFS/IRS would make you change your mind about how you think they should look... vs whether or not you actually wanted to drive the snot out of it as I plan to do. |
Tim is finishing up the header.....

It looks great, I like the flange. On a smaller scale it looks so good it could be used as a gauge bezel. Very nice Greg.
|
Thanks Wayne! They're (the flanges) are custom made.. and the entire exhaust will be built using them for the 'joints'.
Here's a couple more pics I just got with the cuts made. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00279.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00275.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00277.jpg |
Looking GOOD!
What's your plan for sound reduction? |
Those look killer Greg!!!

There is an actual muffler and exhaust system UNDER the car and exiting out the back but the quick change. The big "lakes" pipes are blocked off. |

I didn't look for anything to be able to use them 'open' because that would interfere with the O2 sensor for the EFI that is in the 'head pipe' position of the muffled exhaust. I didn't want the sensor offending the view of the 'lake pipes' in order to use it when they were open... since I figured I might actually open them for 15 minutes once or twice a year.... I'm okay with them just being blocked off. It will sound pretty rowdy with just the exhaust as is.
|
Headers look great Greg! Really like the lines... and the use of subtle bends instead of straight pipe.

I was curious because my buddy with the chop-top is looking for a way to run just the lake pipes. |
Looks great. Those guys are doing a great job on your car Greg.
|
I love seeing great fabricators do the finnese work like that, and the tips won't ever get dirty!

Yeah --- I just didn't want to buy the usual Sanderson versions. The rest of the car has 'up graded' stuff on it -- so I felt the headers - which you really see, just like the paint etc - needed to be on par. I'm not trying to build a show car or Riddler winner -- but I want it to be "mine" -- and not the usual 350 with a TH350 and a Ford 9".... Heck! It's already RED -- like you never see a red roadster! :D So with the hood sides off - and the 8 stack EFI -- a real shifter on the floor -- and the quick change etc IRS and the IFS and the headers not being out of the box -- it might look like a little effort was put in the build. Other than that - there's really not much you can do to a '32 Ford to make it "different" than the 900 other ones parked at any given show. |

I thought about contacting a friend that designed a mechanical supressor for firearms and seeing if he could come up with something. The Spiral baffles look to be of a similar concept. Thanks. |

Final paint on the console....
The recessed area gets one of the cast medallions -- which will be stood off and back lit with a couple LED's... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/CIMG5804.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/CIMG5805.jpg |
The personalizations are becoming very apperant and I very much like how this one's coming together. Keep the pedal down!
|
Very awesome Greg. Those medallions are going to look killer with the back lit LED's.
|
lol Big Gulp Holders!!
 |
Greg,
Really like what your doing with the 32 its coming along great, looking forward to seeing more pics. Rich |
I saw the Car on Friday. Looks like its coming along.
|
Very nice Greg us old timers like out creature comforts... It looks great.
|
Greg pipes turned out very nice, right guy for the job(Tim). I absolutely love his work. Good project, great car! Yeah, I'm jealous. Hooty hooooo
|
Thanks Lenie!
I'll tell him what you said - when I get to Del Mar tomorrow! He'll be my roommate for the weekend. Glad you like the go-kart... I've sure had fun having someone else do the work for once! I could get used to it! Of course - I'm busy with a complete sub frame and re-wire and engine rebuild job on my brother in laws blown 69 Camaro. I was laughing the other day -- while working on his car -- as I'm having my built and building his. Didn't seem quite right.... |
Yeah tell Tim Hi, good guy. Funny how that works. For some reason I'm constantly working on other people's projects instead of my own whether it be vehicles or home remodels(just getting done with inlaws bathroom while there out of town, shhhhh, surprise). Ya know, I'm starting to think I get alittle more enjoyment out of it, kinda like going the extra yard to treat your kids. Always a joy. Have fun this weekend.

went by the shop today. Those headers look crazy, looked like they were made out of mirror glass. Tim was doing all the finish welding on the frame.
|
Now I'm jealous, sounds like you all had a good time.

That's good 'cause the bill I got again today (they bill weekly) are showing "final this and final that".... and I'm liking the sound of that! Schott shipped this wheels a couple days ago - and I'm anxiously waiting to see how they turned out. Steve ordered Billet Specialties billet valve covers yesterday so those should show up and then we're discussing some "different" paint schemes for those. Like maybe matching the wheels instead of the body paint. Can't be too much left at this point. :wow: :woot: |
