Looking good Greg!! Good body work takes time but worth it in long run.

When you're building a Ridler car - it takes time - and Mario Money. Quote:
This project got sidelined for a few months while the shop - with my permission - worked on a couple other projects that the customers wanted "hurried along". Since one of the projects is a buddy -- and I don't really care when it's done - I had no problem with that arrangement. |

Why don't you just marry a Lawyer and take up sewing purses..... :mock: :hitaxeonthehead: |
I see you've started a used car lot....I'd like to make an offer on the Toter and worn out Mustang but have a few questions.
Do you take trades? The 180k and 65k, is that dollars? Is the seat in the mustang adjustable? How about cup holders? Can I upgrade the cabinets in the Toter? The oak may be a deal breaker. I know, I know....thanks for coming by. :hitaxeonthehead: :mock: |

Dollars! Not Euros..... Mustang seat IS adjustable - and my buddy Andy who is well over 6' has driven it without complaint. I will happily paint out the oak cabinets in the toter.... for additional cost of course. I can make them Cherry..... red. Let me know what other customization you'd be interested in. I have a plan - not quite public yet.... but in the discussion stages. If it pans out - I'd like to move my track operations to Thunderhill - thus eliminating the day and a half, one way, travel time.... Therefore eliminating the need for the Toter/Stacker. Since the Mustang has proven completely reliable since the engine builder switch - I find myself not really needing a back up car. It's fun as hell - but the new car would be far more fun.... Since moving to Sun Valley I find no need for multiple hot rods - in fact - other than the couple of long distance trips with Gwen's '33 - I didn't drive them at all. There is no real car / hot rod scene here... and when the '40 Ford P/U is finished - that will satisfy my hot rod needs. I prefer to have Stella (our lab) with me/us - and she's not riding in any of the hot rods! She will be able to go in the back of the P/U. |

I want to see blue jeans and Tshirts and out and about driving. So while they might call themselves "car guys" - they're not my type of car guy. |
Spent a bit looking over the thread, almost forgot what was going on....With the build moving forward again, have you got any fresh renderings from Jimmy? The interior drawings look great, I imagine pleats but the doors and dash look really good, basic with a bit of classic style.
Prime that Chebby and ship it off to the boy, he'll figure it out! |
Darn...I was hoping for build updates with pics. I see your selling off the herd Greg. Your banker, Mr. Lillard crawfished on the loan terms, and needs his money now, huh? Hard to trust a guy, with rigormortis in his middle finger...

Jimmy should be working on more detailed "build" renderings as we speak. RE: Interior.... I told Tracy (Recovery Room) I wanted "early horse blanket".... but frankly = I'm not sure what I want - but it won't be for car shows... it'll be for daily wear and tear and use. Simple and useable and rugged. |

No.... I'm really just realizing a "sea change". The move here has changed a lot of things - not the least of which is not having 30 years worth of hot rod buddies dropping by and hanging out or working on some project or another.... and frankly -- I really like the track day driving - which is a relatively new activity for me and I'd like to do more of it at a higher level (just because). Now - going forward, I'd like to reserve more of the hot rod driving to various road trips... roadsters aren't good road trippers... and the '33 Coupe was bought from my buddies widow simply to help her out. Since I have TWO track cars -- I can put them both up for sale and if one sells - I may still have another to use... but the Mustang is getting a full engine refresh and Jerico rebuild - so would be fresh as a babies ass.... and now would be the perfect time for someone to buy it. It's fresh - it's fast - and it's dialed. I am discussing a new track car project - which would be really exciting and fun.... and if I only have ONE track car - and a shop in Californina - I don't need the toter/stacker -- so it all just folds up into a major change. |
I'll just repo it.......
|
Greg ... you going with a Ron Sutton Track Warrior? That would be my choice if I ever won the lottery .... just saying!
|
Dang Greg you really are making some changes. So when is the new house for sale and the move to Napa taking place? :stirthepot:

Weld's Truck
Funny when a car is finally done and reached its potential how
you are sometimes ready to move on.... Greg has the mustang dialed and I can see where he is ready for the next step- which he mentioned to be me at the Track.. sounds like a pretty cool project I finished my Pantera many years back and enjoy running it and actually cruising it also... went to Alice's in the rain yesterday... but am still tweaking my Firebird so that gives me something to work on and fine tune One of my Pantera buddies loves to tweak on his car but rarely runs the car...his thing... Others show them which is their thing.. I have a couple of others wanting to get them track ready but to many other things in the works I have thought of cashing out of Kalifornia many times but think I would miss the buddies coming over to the shop and the many tracks, cruise nights so close and often Bob |
I wonder how much effect the 'Weld provenance' will have on the sale of these vehicles...

Zero --- and could be a subtraction.... |

Probably a subtraction for each car with no adjustment seats. |

Hey Greg, I've never seen pics of the 33 coupe. Could you post up a couple?
I would appreciate it. Not in the market, but as a die hard hot rodder I would love to see the car. Glenn |

I used to love that video..."She's got legs."

Now that the Greg Weld garage sale is on, I'll look forward to seeing what's next. Are we doing a 2x2 tube chassis and carbon GT-spec racer that will look like some kind of car that kind of suggests one that was sold for the street at some point in idealized American history? Some neon light tubing might be just the trick . . .

I'm hoping it has a bit of this going on...

With all these new track cars being built -- The BMF CamerFord - The FalCorette - The Payton NASCAR inspired what's left of a Camaro - the Schwarz AMXexcutioner.... All I'm trying to do is stay ahead. With little, or any skills - that means it'll take more car. After all - that is the way things have gone around here... PT cars can't run with race cars - so they become more race car... then the race cars have to step up their game and so on. I'm only too happy to oblige 'em. |

THAT appears EXCEEDINGLY heavy...... Maybe think more of a Lotus inspired '65 Mustang... with attitude. LOL |

Nice project Greg...
I am north of Pinkees, maybe a 1/2 hour. I should stop by and take a peek. Joe |

Hell yeah Joe! Not only check out my '40 - but Eric has some pretty sweet other projects going on in there.... and some real nice machinery etc! |
Welds 40 Pickup
I run with one of our Pantera Vendors that has
a Tube frame Pantera... 2200lbs, 358 Nascar motor, 850hp, 12" wheels in front 13" out back with Slicks, Glass body etc... Very very fast car... I can almost stay with him in the corners but hit the straight and goodby I almost bought the Twin car years back that needed to be totally gone thru etc.. he may still have it My problem is time and wanting to have a car that I can drive on the street and also track... my Pantera has gone about as far as I can go without it being a total track car Bob Ps... Greg told me what he thinks his next car will be when I drove down to Laguna.. maybe if you guys show up at the track once in while he will let you know also:) |
Ok Greg, this build started on 7/14 and here we wait. Time to go pick up the ride, put it in your shop and start putting those skills of yours back to use!! It's winter time in Sun Valley, what else you got to do this time of year with those hands?? Last time anything took you this long to build it was that cabin your working on and this is just suppose to be a driver. Let's go Nancy :bigun2: :poke: :)
