Color

:y0!:

I'd say the lighter one. Gives you option to do darker accent colors if you add striping or race line graphics.

Curtis, I have been following this discretely and just wanted to help out like the rest of the guys! I say lighter....:bitchslap:

Either one will look great. With the attention to detail Jim has given this thing and the insanely cool parts you have going into it, it is destined to be bad ass!

With the attention to detail that Jim has given the car, I'd like to pick something that won't mask that. Thanks for following along Bud.

That actually crossed my mind. More so Black with White Z28 stripes. That lasted about 12.6 seconds. Way to hard to take car of and keep looking good.

Darker cars do have their appeal. Cole your car was a great color before the repaint and it does have it's draw. My concern is going to dark.

This is exactly what I've been thinking. At the end of the day it's all about balance.

So here is the lighter one. Silver Sand Metallic
https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-m8sg9d7-M.jpg

The darker is Luxe Metallic. Yup....both Lincoln colors.
https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-966bjv5-M.jpg

Doesn't look like a huge difference in the pictures, but seeing them side by side in the same light you really see it. The Silver Sand shows a bit of tan-ish tint to it in the right light. And the Luxe really changes in the bright light looking awesome, but it drops off and looks blah in the shade or on an over cast day.

I have a few more in mind, but these are the starters.

GregWeld 02-10-2016 07:00 AM

How about "Plum Crazy"...... because that's what you're going to be by the time you finally pick a color.

Spiffav8 02-10-2016 07:08 AM

Updates are coming in a lot more frequently! I take that as we are getting closer and closer to the end goal. Well...Jim's end goal. He passed my expectations a ways back.

Love how the light sits on the body line like that.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-vjsskvg-L.jpg

Jim really paid attention to our first conversation about the car when I told him that I am always really impressed by the trunk gaps on a build. Pretty sure that's why I get so many pictures of this. Not that I'm complaining!

No kidding. I wonder how long it will take me to shake the habit of looking at every silver car I see. :confused18:

Hi Curtis.

Hi Curtis. As Flash pointed out already 4 out 5 will choose the darker colour, and he's been pretty much proven correct. I personally prefer the lighter shade and the black bumble bee and tailpanel it will contrast a lot more, you might lose some of the effect on the darker colour. Just my 2 cents worth mate.😊
Cheers Trevor.

Vegas69 02-10-2016 03:53 PM

Either way you are painting it an old fart color. :D

fleet 02-10-2016 05:38 PM

Curtis,

Have Laurie pick the color.

That way, if you don't like how it turns out, at least we won't ever have to listen to you complain about it publicly.

:innocent:

Sonar Chief 02-10-2016 07:35 PM

Curtis ... my .02 cents ..... just wrap it! Easy color change if you change your mind!

Some serious logic in that idea.

FaBrycation 02-11-2016 06:30 AM

I like the darker lincoln color. Fits a muscle car better in my non important opinion. Looking good!

lol

You suffer for your paint Curtis! :P

But remember the lesson of BMF...sure the right paint color is obviously very important, yet imho the 360K+ page views is mostly due to them special stripes.

WSSix 02-11-2016 11:02 AM

In for the darker silver.

waynieZ 02-11-2016 01:39 PM

I'm leaning towards the dark side too.

Vegas69 02-11-2016 06:36 PM

I agree with the consensus, the darker. The lighter is just to vanilla and bland for a muscle car. It's like painting your walls swiss coffee. (In real estate that's the safe bet for walls to please everybody)

Agree! Muscle Cars are supposed to be bad ass.... I mean really... would you cerakote an AR metallic white?

Well, someone thought it was a good idea. Stormtrooper AR15

Back to the Camaro, I'd go with darker shade as well.

Hi Curtis.

Hi Curtis, The picture Skip has just posted looks really sweet. About a week or so ago I emailed you a link showing a 2nd gen, from memory it was a similar shade and you commented your wife even liked it. 😊 I reckon there would still be enough contrast with a black stripe. That's my latest favorite mate.
Cheers.

I am leaning towards the darker of the two. Still have a few more I'd like to look at before I decide though.

I do like that green, but....as strange as this sounds, I think it would look better on a 68. I know....weird.

Spiffav8 02-12-2016 06:06 PM

I really like Mike Reckley's 67. It doesn't seem to dark or to light to me. Haven't seen it in person, but it seems well balanced and doesn't flip to much from what I can see. If I could find something similar, I'd be happy.

Sonar Chief 02-12-2016 06:32 PM

I really like Mike's 67 ... understated yet awesome! Still think a wrap is the way to go :relax:

FaBrycation 02-12-2016 08:44 PM

Here is another color you should check out Curtis. Its called Guard its a factory color on the new mustang. I know anything ford on a chevy would make the internet explode but I love this color

JKnight 02-12-2016 09:31 PM

Damn, that Guard green is nice!! Makes me think of the great Porsche green and brown colors of late. We're totally not helping.

If you're still thinking Lincoln silver, I agree with the darker.

Hi Curtis, I just did a google search on this car and did some quick research, in a magazine article they gave the colour, looked up the code and it's the same as mine.😊 get a nice big spray out done mate, in some pictures it looks identical and in others it appears way darker. Cheers Trevor.

I don't want to be responsible for the internet going off line. Then again.....with the exception of the loss of LG, it might do the world some good.

It's still on the list. I want two more colors spray outs of the remaining colors on my list. Getting close though.

That's also really good to hear. I think that may end up being the final color. Man I can't wait for this part of the process to be over!

How big is that trailer anyways? I'm thinking about buying one.

Good luck on color choice. I am stuck at that point right now. Took me long enough to make a wheels choose. Google Lotus Elise Storm Titanium.

I know I'd be happy with it. Always liked Mike's car.

It's a 24' Storm, they are gone now but I've been very happy with it.

This is my vote, HOK Galaxy Gray. You can really see how it changes on the body lines of this 33/34, doesn't appear to mask any of the details.

I'm sure I missed it, what are the details/finish on the wheels and are you doing stripes of any kind?

I looked at that color way back, but didn't see that picture. I'll be taking another look. It's a lot like the Pepper Silver Metallic used on the Elinor Mustangs from what I can tell. Am I off on that?
