I finally got to drive the car a bit before Christmas. The steering feel at highway speeds is great. Still makes a small amount of noise at parking lot speeds. Like pulling into a parking spot or turning the wheels not moving.

Please let us know how the new Dakota Digital Velocity cruise control kit works. I'm been thinking about adding cc to my car (with Holley EFI/DBW) and this seems to be the solution.

Thanks.

I finally got to drive the car a bit before Christmas with one nice dry sunny day. With a little tinkering I was able to get the cruise to work fine. I ran out of the day to do a full evaluation. I used it on the hiway at 80 mph with now issues and also at 50 mph on a normal road. Work great. It is a little clunky at 40 mph but who need cruise at 40? I was just doing a sweep of speed.

Once the weather breaks in MI I’ll get out and try it more.

I’d does have a cool Bluetooth app that allows you to make set up changes. Over all another great Dakota Digital product.

A couple example set up screens.

Thanks for the info Mark. I plan on getting one for the Chevelle.

Mark can you please share the part number for the upper radiator hose. I have recently installed the Holley Mid Mount and the Acdelco 22842M hose is a bit short.

I believe Mark posted this already; D71267 upper hose.

Thanks a lot man. I do not know how I missed it. Just placed an order from Rockauto, and hopefully it fits perfectly.

Someone earlier in the thread asked about the fuel tank vent system. You replied that you would show it once you had it worked out. Do you have a solution for this now on the Hobbs Camaro?

Also, wondering what the bore size of the 2002 F-Body clutch master cylinder is that you are using on your builds?

Thanks,

I finally got the Camaro on the road. Like most of these projects… it had gear whine.

I tried a 12 bolt this go around because that was original to the car.

The only gear I could find at the time was a repo 12 bolt gear. I think is it was a Strange.

I’m looking for a real GM 12 bolt gear. Prefer 3.73 but a 3.55 will be good also.

I’m putting out the I need help beacon on Lat-G and maybe someone has one or knows where one is.

Other than that the car runs great!!

Mark,

Have you tried a gear set that's been REM polished? Just wondering if it's worth doing or if it's all hype. They claim lower temp, friction and noise.

Not to chime in on behalf of Mark, but I asked GearFX a while back about that - they said yes REM really lowers temps, but it would have no impact on noise.

We're putting the DSE FN988 in our current project (uses the 8.8 center section in 9" housing) but it won't be on the road for a year or two.

I think Charleys new Camaro has that 8.8 setup, should be done soon.

Yes we are. I plan on having the Camaro at our show in November if anyone is bored. www.MCACN.com

I’m not sure of the brand but it came from Heartbeat City.

I’m starting to get some miles on my Camaro. The car is great other than a little rear axle gear. Jody and Charlie thanks for the help on finding OE gears.

I have both projects cars running! Very rare occurrence.

Nice!

Did you end up making changes on the Camaro exhaust to something less quite?

I like the quiet, but all the other noises that get drowned out start driving me nuts. As Mary Pozzi once said, you start playing the "What's that noise" game.

EVIL SS 05-10-2025 08:40 AM

Mark, is the plate that surrounds the shifter(on the tunnel) a sheetmetal fabbed piece or machined part? Super clean and looks great.

Aaron Oberle made that out of a solid plate of stainless steel. Then Matt polished it. We could not find a shifter boot ring we liked so we made one.

Finally getting some miles on this build.

I took it to Waterford Hill Raceway to shake it down. Sorted out the safe stock LS7 Holley cal was off. We got it re-tuned and it runs great now.

The stock C6 Corvette bakes did better than I thought they would.

Also had at the Warren GM car show last week. Great driving car.
