Brent, the late nights have already begun! We built this house 11.5 years ago and I never finished the garage. So now with time running out and the car heading home I find myself out there a lot! The cabinets have all been relocated to what I think will make for a much safer storage space for Karma, I did lose some counter top space...but I will be fine with what’s left! I cut a door into the parts room from the garage so I don't have to access it from outside anymore! Remember it rains here a lot! I finally have all the drywall finished, smooth wall finish (no texture) as that’s what I do for a living. Two of the bays are painted and I'm priming the 3rd this weekend. Hope to have it all painted by next weekend! It’s kinda time consuming as the ceilings are white and the walls are a light canvas color. Then I need to plumb the sink, trim out the new door, and wash the floor one more time....then we are ready for Karma's homecoming!! :woot:

I’ll post before and after pics of the garage when I’m finished…

Man I'd be excited to be working on that stuff knowing that Karma is on the way. Perfect way to get rid of all that nervous energy you must have built up. Seriously...stop complaining.

;)

I knew you would bust my chops!

Actually one of the many excuses I have used is that I didn't want to make it pretty until I was done with the dirty/fab stage of the build! And man did the grinding dust go everywhere! But now that that's all far behind us it's time to dial in the room like Pete did the car! He kinda set the bar high...

Whoa!! do not use blue tape. Use the green stuff. I know first hand that the blue tape should not be used.

What happened with the blue tape?

I know he used it on his wheels and played hell getting it off. However I believe it was on there for a couple years. Not sure where else he used it on the car?

Tape is rated in HOURS of use -- and or whether or not it can be exposed to sun.

Put some standard (tan) masking tape on something - set it in the sun for a couple hours... and then try pulling it off. :(

Green can be left on for a month - and take the sun - but according to 3M - you shouldn't leave it on or expose to the sun (I know this having owned a couple of Grand Banks - and doing LOTS of varnish work!).

Yellow is the 3M pro finishers tape - and can be exposed to UV and leaves no residue behind...

There is a "right" tape for almost every job... but it takes a little research like any of the rest of the parts we use etc. Get it wrong - and you've got a big mess.

Very true Greg!

At work we always use the 'one week' blue tape...however a couple times I HAD to use the 'one month' blue tape...BIG differance between the two! And the one month stuff was a LOT more money per roll! Less glue = more money...go figure! But there's a tool for every job so you have to pony up!

I'll never forget the guy in my marina that did his whole boat in cheap azz masking tape - the kind you'd use to tape up a box.... and painted and varnished and left the stuff on there for like a month...

It NEVER came off.... it turned hard as a rock - and the glue left staining on his white gel coat when he managed to get about a 1/4" of that stuff off...

What a mess!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

There is a differnce in just the green tape from different manufacturers.
I used 3m green tape its been on stuff for over 6 months and it comes off with now issues. Blue stuff does not want to come of very easily now.
Car was never in the sun also.
