The canister is an accumulator. It holds 3 quarts of oil and is basically a cylinder with a piston. I start out by putting about 80psi of air in the gauge end and then bleed it off to 6psi. Once the engine is running it forces the piston all the way back to the gauge and if the engine loses oil pressure due to high g's the accumulator can supply up to 5 seconds of oil directly into the oil galleys. That's what the one way valve is for.(Causing my drip) I can also prime the engine by closing the valve with it running and opening it before the next start. It's probably over kill but it's to late now. :lol: |
Looks Great Todd. My hats off to you for the level of detail. I've seen a lot of cars with 10 lbs of crap stuffed in a 5lb bag and they look like it. You made it all fit very well. Brushed aluminum has always been my favorite look. I bet you never thought back in 2006 when you were planning the car out that you'd still be working on her or it would ever be at this level? You'll never really be done, but that's the fun of it all. Great Job!!
You should take those nice valve covers over to a good machine shop and have "Payback" or "ZL1" or even both engraved into them. |

Order up any pads for Carbotech yet? I have some miles on them now. Car has never stopped better. A little bit of noise when they are hot and a very, very light stop. I will be getting a set of their track pads soon |
Thanks guys, I did order a set last week. He recommended the AX6 out back and the 10's out front so I can mix street, autocross, and road racing. We'll see....

It's in the corner of this photo. If I had it to do over again:D it would be under the car near the passenger foot panel. I used two 180 and one 45 fitting to make it work. At the time I wanted it as close to the carb but not mounted on the inner fender. :unibrow: It works great but it wasn't fun making it work with fittings. Seems easy now......

I have the AX6's on all 4 corners for street and autocross. Was going to go more aggressive for the track, but if the 10's work up front and I can leave the AX6's in the rear, that would be a quick swap.
On a seperate note, the brushed aluminum really looks great against the black. |
It's between the accumulator and and headers with heat wrap.
I'll let you know on the pads. I'm not sure I'll have the energy to put them on before my race Saturday since they won't be here until Friday and my folks will be in town. I will defiinitely have them on for the El Toro deal. |
