That is so cool |
Update 6/9
It's been some time since I updated this thread ... relocated to Denver first of April and started job searching, meanwhile the Camaro is safe and sound at Kevin's shop waiting on me to get back on track. So I have been helping out Kevin with his 68 Camaro build and had some time to work on my Camaro a little today ... had previously pulled the parking brake shoe off the passenger side cuz it was so tight the car wouldn't roll.
What APITA, not wanting to pull the entire C6 hub back off the axle flange to install the hold back spring on the shoe I cursed and with some persistence I won! That spring had some tension and would slip out from one side while I put pressure on the other side and the middle wouldn't go down into the shoe (insert curse words) ... http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/mlzhUF.jpg She's safe and sound here under cover! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/D1Gh8W.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/xFyrvh.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/wRHpWv.jpg This is the culprit ... the hold back spring that fits inside the shoe between the hub and backing plate w 1/8" clearance, grrrr! And the HF jack failed and the car came to rest on the gas tank, yep ... dented the new tank a little. So I'm here in Denver and start my new job with CDOT this Monday. Hope to see some guys for the PPIR OPTIMA event, thanks for looking ... |
Very cool looks like a nice new home for her. Congrats on the new job

Never trust your life and your car to the chinaman built jack my friend..... never. Losing your fingers or hand - or life - to a cheaply built POS..... yeah that's just not the place to save money. Tools such as that are one time - lifetime purchases.
While they can all fail.... you're odds probably rise exponentially with the "more money you saved"... I place a higher value on my well being than that. Sorry it happened. Now order a Hein-Werner or similar. Beware the "assembled in the USA" vs MADE in the USA..... Norco is also a top contender - made in Taiwan.... but is a great piece of equipment that I trust my fat ass with. |

Hi chief, Glad to hear from you. It must feel good being settled in with a new job. Now you can get back to living and your car.
Sucks about the jack, at least you didn't get hurt. |
Thanks guys, already started looking for a new jack ... I pressed the car up and then went to get the stands and it lost pressure and rested on the tank, not bad thou ... still pisses me off!
Been helping Kevin with his 68 Camaro that's at the pre-body shop guy [works at body shop during the day] got the DSE roll bar all set and welded in and just finishing some seam sealer and then it's coming back to Kevin's to get the undercarriage detailed and painted ... that's where I come in :hello: The body shop will be ready to take the car end of June, I think, and she'll get her top coat and stripes then back to assemble the car at Kevin's shop. Keeps me outa trouble and I'm still working on cars ... |
I bought this trans jack from Harbor and love it. With coupon it was about half of anybody elses.

Mission accomplished!
Thought I'd update my thread with the latest where about, I have been helping my buddy with his 68 Camaro rebuild. My task was to get the underside all cleaned up and in epoxy so we could Raptor bedliner, (my bad) the wheel wells and get her off the rotisserie. Mission accomplished!!!
Came out pretty darn well, Kevin applied the RAPTOR lining, take a look! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/WoexOV.jpg Second coat of epoxy drying! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/mMP7XX.jpg RAPTOR lined the wheel wells front to back and the tail panel got some too! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/eEI8Lv.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/IdBQkg.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/hLJADT.jpg Yeah that's my Camaro sitting under the cover! ------>>>>>>> http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/k3IfVq.jpg That's just a cool picture!
