My son & I were talking about this. How about
[drum roll]
Carbon Fiberbird!

OLDFLM's CF-71 Freedom Bird

Our Air Force transport aircraft are designated with a C-prefix and carry cargo and/or passengers... C-5, C-130, C-17 etc.

Air Force fighter aircraft are designated with an F-prefix... F-4, F-15, F-16 etc.

So we have C & F... and with all the carbon fiber pieces that'll be on my 71 Firebird I was thinking CF-71?

Add to that designation, flights returning from an overseas area are often referred to as the "Freedom Bird", since they usually carry military members who are returning to the United States after what is commonly a one to three-year tour of duty.

So, what about:

OLDFLM's "CF-71 Freedom Bird" for a project name?

I Like it and it fits nice for everything going on with you and the car

It was your "Project Freedom" idea that really got me started thinking...

Well I like it and we need to figure out a way to put it in the billet somewhere on the car or a paint mask small somewhere.

Maybe we can engrave it into the valve covers, if you have a billet set and want to send them to me we can do it. We just did it on the Nova and it looks sick.

That would look cool

I love the name!!!! I've got some ideas of where to ghost it into the CF pieces or maybe painted somewhere on the car. And I also like the idea of valve covers!!

As far as updates there isn't to much to show. I have been doing a ton of stuff but really nothing that can be seen. Basically removing glass, pulling dash, etc, etc!! Plus not to mention the stomach bug came back, but this time it bit my family so I've been playing clean-up guy if you catch my drift!!! I did go out to the Moultrie, GA swap meet this weekend looking for some goodies for the car and nothing!! You Pontiac guys have it bad, there wasn't but one Pontiac guy at the whole place with over a 1000 vendors, and all he had was junk!!

There'll be a lot of updates and pictures coming in the next couple of weeks. I start my Christmas break from my day job here soon. So I'll be putting in full days now instead of nights only. Watch for CF-71 to take off here soon!!

Hey Ty,
Looks to be a really cool build they have going for ya. Can't wait for the finished pics. Just finishing up my 20 in the Air Force as a weather forecaster. I retire next week.
There is a better chance of me buying my parts form the contributing vendors, providing they sell 67 Chevelle stuff :-)

Congrats again

OLDFLM 11-24-2008 06:18 AM

Congrats!!!!

Congratulations on your retirement Bryan!!!!!!!

I'm not ready to cross that bridge yet but I know that day isn't too far away as I can't stay in forever! LOL

Many of the vendors offer military discounts... just call them and tell them what you need and they'll take care of you!

God's speed and best wishes to you and yours as you close this chapter in your life's journey!

Your fellow Wingman, :patriot:
Ty
